There is no shortage of rude and crude suggestions to the internet question, “What’s the worst thing you could do at a wedding?” However, there are plenty of legit responses too. So here are ten of the worst things you can do at a wedding, according to Reddit.

1. Propose

The number one-voted response for terrible things to do at someone’s wedding is to propose. One clarified, “Unless it’s something that the bride and groom are in on, like one of those pretends to throw the bouquet.

Then give it to a specific person, where they get proposed to kinda setups where it’s OBVIOUS that the bride and groom approve, then it’s a hard no.”

2. Placing Bets On How Long It Will Last

Somebody shared a story from “Back in the days of VHS.” They explained their friend was getting married, and he and their mutual friends placed bets on how long it would last.

Furthermore, the bride and groom spent most of the time arguing at the reception behind their big chairs. At some point, the guests must express their good wishes to the newlyweds when the camera person comes round to each table.

Finally, they continued, “The groom’s dad looks into the camera and says, ‘All I can say, son is good luck. You’re going to need it.’ Rumor of this gets to the bride, and the reception disintegrates into chaos. The marriage lasted 17 months. I won the pool, $1200.”

3. Playing the Wrong Song

Somebody’s son explained that at the wedding of his mother’s second husband, the Dj played Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust.” Another shared that they attended a wedding where the very first song played was “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele. They expressed laughing so hard they excused themselves from the reception hall.

Finally, a third volunteered, “The terrible DJ at my mum and stepdad’s wedding played “Band of Gold.” The song is about a husband leaving a wife. He played it more than once.”

4. Saying the Wrong Name

One user commented, “Take thee, Rachel,” before another Friends fan jumped in with, “Repeat after me: I Ross… Take thee, EMILY!

While nobody outright said that saying the wrong name at the altar would be terrible, this reference to Friends, when Ross says Rachel instead of Emily at his wedding, summed it up beautifully.

5. Making Any Kind of Announcement

Many people in the thread agreed that in addition to proposing, announcing an engagement or pregnancy is tacky and the worst thing to do at someone else’s wedding.

One clarified, “Making any big announcement. You just found out you’re pregnant? Fantastic, make the announcement any other time than on someone else’s special day.”

6. Injecting Yourself Into Wedding Pictures

Running around and ensuring that you’re in all of the photos is something that several Redditors noted as the worst. One user elaborated, “Injecting yourself into the wedding photos with stupid faces or dumb hats or whatever is terrible.”

7. Making Yourself the Center of Attention

Many people voted that if you’re being loud and disruptive during the wedding ceremony, you’re doing terrible things. Especially if you object “jokingly” when the officiator expresses, “Speak now. Or forever hold your peace.”

Others added that being distracting during speeches or giving an impromptu speech when you’re not part of the wedding party is rude.

8. Fighting

Several people suggested that fighting is the worst thing you can do at a wedding. One added that arguments are typical when you bring families together.

And people who intentionally avoid others cannot help but snap, especially when you throw in alcohol and the high energy of the wedding. However, physical fights are on another level of straight trash.

9. Leaving Children Inadequately Supervised

Leaving children unsupervised is one of the worst things to do at a wedding. One confirmed, “SO MANY of the memorable accidents that had happened to anyone in my family as children had happened during weddings while adults focused on the event for a split second too long.

My concussion occurred at a wedding when I fell off the new stage of the Legion pretending to be a rock star. My brother got a black eye at a wedding when he ran around on the dance floor like a maniac and caught an accidental elbow.

Stepsister’s jammed fingers? Wedding. Cousin’s broken collarbone? Wedding. Godchild almost drowned? Wedding. WATCH YOUR KIDS.”

10. Wearing White

Lastly, according to many in the thread, wearing white, especially a white dress, is the worst thing to do to a bride on her wedding day. One poor woman shared, “I made this mistake once.

I wore a white tank top and a white skirt because I thought it would be hot out. Now, I didn’t know better back then. I thought it wasn’t great, but not that bad, and no one pointed it out to me.

But I was immediately uncomfortable when we arrived at the wedding, and the bride wore a casual white sundress. I expected a ballgown and not almost the same outfit I was wearing. I still cringe hard about it now.”

What do you think? Did Reddit get this right, or do you think there is something on this list that doesn’t belong?
