Best Celebrity Engagement Rings
Poppy’s Leo De Vroomen engagement ring is quite the showstopper, but the coloured stone and unusual shape fits in perfectly with her boho style. Given to her by now-husband James Cook, it features an emerald-cut blue diamond and two heart-shaped diamonds in a bezel setting on an extra large band, framed by two rows of smaller diamonds. It takes balls to rock a statement engagement ring, but Poppy certainly carries it off!
Supermodel Emily and producer Sebastian Bear-McClard had a whirlwind romance of just six weeks before tying the knot in April 2018 – things moved so quickly that the engagement ring actually came after the wedding band! Having proposed with a paper clip bent into a circle, Sebastian picked out a stunning two-stone diamond ring on a yellow gold band. Estimated to be worth €70,000/£62,000/$80,000, and featuring a 2-carat, princess-cut diamond and 3-carat, pear-shaped diamond, it’s a little bit classic and a little bit modern at the same time.
Singer-songwriter Solange famously lost her Art Deco-inspired engagement ring while partying at Mardi Gras in 2016, but we can still fawn over it thanks to these photographs! Featuring one square-shaped and one emerald-cut white diamond on a yellow gold band, the ring’s unique shape made it a real head-turner.
We’ve long been admirers of Emma Stone’s red carpet style, so we were pretty sure we’d fall hard for her engagement ring too. Her other half, Dave McCary proposed with a unique pearl ring by Japanese jeweller Kataoka. The “Pearl Snowflake Ring-Supreme” is priced at $4,780 – a modest budget for an A-list star – but that doesn’t mean it’s minimal! A beautiful Akoya peal set in 18 carat beige gold and flanked with a halo of diamonds, this is not your average solitaire sparkler!
Let’s face it, Kanye West was never going to choose a subtle ring, but we have to hand it to the superstar rapper – the 20-carat emerald-cut diamond ring that he gifted to wife Kim in 2016 (three years after he proposed with a different, but equally extravagant ring) is extremely chic as enormous rocks go! The Lorraine Schwartz ring, estimated to be worth €3.8/£3.4/$4.5 million, was stolen during the infamous Paris robbery, but Kim is currently rocking a remarkably similar piece, which is thought to be a replica.
Pop star and actress Ashlee really makes a statement with her engagement ring, which was chosen by now-husband Evan Ross (son of Diana!) He worked closely with L.A. jeweller Neil Lane to design a one-of-a-kind piece, using a marquise-cut diamond and ruby ring from their vintage collection as a base. From there, the jeweller added a diamond sleeve for added drama and sparkle. The result is a five-carat ring, set in platinum and gold, boasting 140 white diamonds accented with small rubies.
When TV exec José Antonio Bastón proposed to actress and producer Eva Longoria, he presented her with this gorgeous ruby engagement ring, which may or may not have been inspired by Princess Diana and Kate Middleton’s famous sapphire ring. Surrounded by a halo of diamonds set on a white gold band, Eva’s ring is quite the showstopper, so much so that she rarely wears it. “I’m a simple girl,” she said in 2017. “My engagement ring was a bit too much for me, so I couldn’t wait to wear just the band.”
Choosing an engagement ring for human rights lawyer Amal must have been a tricky job for George Clooney. Not only is she one of the most accomplished and stylish women on the planet, she’s also the kind of woman who would refuse on principal to wear jewellery with a dubious background. Luckily, George did his homework, sourcing an ethically-mined emerald-cut diamond estimated at seven-plus carats, flanked by two tapered baguettes set in platinum.
Actress Zoe is another star who doesn’t like to wear her engagement ring out and about, probably due to its value. Gifted to her by husband Marco Perego, her striking green sparkler features a pear-shaped emerald, flanked by trillion-cut stones and many smaller diamonds along a white gold band. The emerald is estimated to be eight to 10 carats.
With an estimated price tag of €19,000/£16,000/$21,000, Margot Robbie’s engagement ring is relatively modest, compared to some of the other pieces on this list, but it’s still an absolute knockout. Given to her by husband Tom Ackerley, it features what’s thought to be a 1.5 carat, pear-shaped diamond in a prong setting on a diamond-set band. What a timeless choice!
Choreographer Benjamin Millepied worked closely with jewellery designer Jamie Wolf to design this absolute stunner for Natalie Portman. In keeping with Natalie’s environmentally-conscious ideals, the stone is an antique old mine-cut diamond, the pavé diamonds are certified as conflict-free, and the platinum is recycled metal. We’re completely in love with the shape of this one – the round stone and multi-strand band is just so pretty.
It should come as no surprise that popstar-turned-designer Victoria Beckham has more than one engagement ring, given her extravagant tastes, but even we were shocked to hear that she has 14 of them in her jewellery collection! For the purposes of this feature, we narrowed it down to just one, this XXL emerald and diamond number given to her by husband David in 2007. Naturally enough, she has the exact same ring with a ruby centre stone as well.
Estimated to be worth €1.7/£1.5/$2 million, Blake’s 12-carat, oval-cut diamond engagement ring is an impeccable choice. Husband Ryan Reynolds went to Kim Kardashian’s jeweller, Lorraine Schwartz, for this classic ring, which features pavé diamonds along a thin rose gold band.
We actually have quite a lot of information on the ring that Olivier Sarkozy used to propose to fashion icon Mary-Kate Olsen, because the vintage Cartier piece was purchased at a public Sotheby’s auction. Priced €70,000/£62,000/$81,000 and dating from 1953, it boasts a four-carat, European-cut diamond, surrounded by 16 sapphires. Each of the petal-shaped stones surrounding the ring of sapphires is a single-cut diamond, too. It’s an adventurous choice, but one that suits Mary-Kate’s personal style to a tee.
Friends star Jennifer is no longer wearing her engagement ring, after splitting from husband Justin Theroux in 2018, but we’re still enchanted by this eight-carat, emerald-cut diamond piece, which is said to be worth €430,000/£383,000/$500,000. It was designed by Jennifer’s close friend Jennifer Meyer, who clearly nailed the star’s timeless style.
