What is Balletcore
Balletcore style is inspired by a ballerina’s rehearsal attire and the traditional design elements of the costumes the dancers wear during performances. So what can you use in your balletcore aesthetic? Think soft pastel shades of pink, blush and ivory, floaty, full fabrics like tulle, cashmere wrap cardians, big skirts and structured corsetry, as well as lace up details like ribbon and beautiful ballet flats.

The Balletcore Wedding Dress
Tutu-style skirts made of layered tulle are the signatire look of a balletcore wedding dress, best worn tea- or ballet-length meaning the hemline sits anywhere above the ankle and mid-calf. This full skirt paired with a boned and structured bodice gives the ballet-inspired wedding dress its signature silhouette. Keeping it from looking too much like a cotsume, bridal designers give gowns a contemporary look with details like oversized bows, lace sleeves, exposed boning and mesh panelling. All of which gives this classical style a modern twist.

Ballet-Inspired Accessories
A balletcore look offers you the chance to get extra cosy with your bridal cover up (we have a whole post on where to source them here!), as cashmere wrap cardigans are a staple of this aesthetic and look super cute when teamed with a full skirt. As for accessories we are all for statement bridal bows, or if you’re considering a bridal ballerina bun, why not adorn it with an embellished hair scrunchie.

Balletcore Bridal Shoes
The ballerina pump is another way to embrace the balletcore trend, and ballet flats are a great option for tired feet. But it’s possible to incorporate ballet-inspired style into your footwear with added embellishments like ribbon and organza ties. Keeping the dancing theme going you could also give a nod to ballroom style shoes should you wish to give your balletcore style a more vintage vibe.
