Few things color our hearts more happy than this Pride inspired wedding with so much love at the heart. Jaclyn and Rachel’s story is sweet as can be with a Tinder meet-cute (believe it or not!) and two heart-flutteringly beautiful proposals. 2Chic Events + Design cozified a blank open-concept space through ghost chairs, vintage tinted glassware and exquisitely composed rainbow florals from The Posh Posey. I’m talking ombre floral garland for the table, textured floral cloud overhead, vivid bouquets spilling over with unique blooms… Leave it to Stephanie Lynn Co to capture an intimate soiree this beautiful, inspiring and meaningful in stride! Overview from design team: Our vision with this shoot was to step away from what some might call a traditional “pride” look and add a soft and romantic vibe, while honoring all that pride means to us and our couples.
We didn’t want to shy away from the variation of color that was a big part of our inspiration, but wanted to put our own unique spin on incorporating a range of colors.
Set against a crisp backdrop of whites and neutrals, we chose a dusty rainbow palette for the flowers and accent decor, which included pops of bright color mixed in with more subtle tones.
We love the idea of stepping outside of the box when it comes to variations in colors and mixing things up. Different colors of glassware on the tabletop mixed with classic elegant elements created a fun and romantic look.
Naturally, lighting is such a big part of any atmosphere that we create. We mixed it up by using several soft variations of color in our lighting to complete the ambience in the room.
In addition to our design inspiration, we were also greatly inspired by our real couples’ love story:
It all started with a swipe right. Yes, you heard that right, we met on a dating app. And of all apps…it was Tinder. Unlike most stories you hear from the dating apps these days (especially Tinder), our story clearly ended well. It was actually the first and only date from the apps – for both of us!
We had an instant connection and quickly learned we had a crazy amount in common, too. We were both adamant that we weren’t looking for a serious relationship, so that really worked out! And over the past four years, we’ve created an amazing home here in San Francisco. As you all probably know, we are obsessed with our son Piggy, and he’s started our little family.
The Proposals:
Jaclyn: Rachel is impossible to surprise, so I had to put my plan in action early. I convinced her I would propose in the summer of 2020, but I was really going to do it a year early. The months leading up to the proposal were full of white lies, turning off my “find my friends” location, and deleting my texts & emails. Did I say she’s hard to surprise? ? I succeeded in keeping everything secret – she had no idea. But the morning of, she looked at me and asked, “are you proposing to me today?” She said she woke up with a premonition, out of the blue. Unbelievable. I convinced her she was crazy, and somehow managed to get her to Bernal Heights Park, with the help of our friend Marianne. We used to live right below the hill and it’s our favorite look-out in the city. I actually proposed, much to her surprise, and we went off to celebrate with our families, who came to the city as a second surprise for the weekend. We all had the best weekend together and officially kicked off the engagement!
* A rare perk of being lesbian is that we could do whatever the heck we wanted with the proposals. So…we went with two ?

Rachel: But Jaclyn didn’t know that yet! I convinced her after her proposal that I was going to wait a few months to get her a ring, and that we’d do it together. Little did she know, I went to look at rings two weeks later, and ended up picking one out. And I already had a plan. We had a trip planned to Bainbridge Island, Jaclyn’s hometown, a month or so later. We decided to do a local bridal shower/engagement party there since we were making the trip anyway, and my mom and sisters joined us for that.
Bainbridge Island is not only a special place for Jaclyn, but its grown to be that for me too, so it was the perfect second proposal spot. My sisters helped me smuggle the ring through TSA without Jaclyn noticing, and then the night we arrived before our boat ride to dinner, we started taking pictures outside with the families. Naturally, Jaclyn was annoyed by this, so when it came our turn to take a photo and I was holding my jacket with the ring in it, she told me to put the jacket down so we could take the picture and leave for dinner. I responded with, “Alright, I guess I’m doing this now then” and surprised her with the ring. She truly had no idea!
