Arleta Wilson

Scottsdale, Ariz.

Arleta Jean Wilson was born on Nov. 13, 1935, and passed away in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Jan. 9, 2023. Arleta (Arlie) was born in Arlington, Iowa, and was the oldest of 19 siblings. Arlie and Richard (Dick) Wilson were married in 1954 and recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary in August.

Arlie and Dick moved to Cedar Rapids and raised two sons, Rodney Wilson (deceased) and Bart Wilson, who resides in Scottsdale, Ariz. Arlie had three grandchildren, Mindy DeVries (husband Russ), MacKenzie (husband Nick) and Tyler Wilson (wife Keturah). Arlie had seven great-grandchildren and was so proud and would light up when she spent time with them.

Arlie worked at Taft Jr. High in Cedar Rapids for 20-plus years as an administrative assistant and loved being with children. Arlie always provided for her family and numerous friends the wonderful example of dedication, commitment and loving heart. We are all grateful for her gift of faith and perseverance. Arlie retired in Arizona in 1991 and was able to travel the world with 8 high school friends from Arlington. The earth lost an amazing woman but heaven gained an angel.

Arlie Wilson’s service and Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. Jan. 12, at Mountain View Memorial 7900 E. Main Mesa, Ariz. In lieu of flowers, any donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley Ekstein Center in Scottsdale, Ariz.
