PETERSHAM — Petersham Art Center is sponsoring two events in July. There is a fundraising exhibit at the center, extending throughout the month of July. On July 16, Lynn Hartman of Hartman’s Herb Farm, will teach a class on Floral Arranging.

Many generous patrons and artists have donated artworks, either for direct sale or for silent auction, to PAC’s fundraising exhibit. One hundred percent of the sale proceeds will benefit needed projects for the Art Center, which has been a thriving home for art and craft of the North Quabbin region for over 100 years.

In the gallery, original watercolors, oil paintings, artisanal photographs, pottery, quilts, and fabric art are on display, all for sale or auction bid to benefit the Art Center. Among the many offerings, nationally acclaimed artist Gary Lippincott has donated a fantastical fairy print. There is a graceful sculpted vessel from Green Top Pottery, which thrived in Petersham during the 1930s, as a vintage collector’s item. Sheila Youd, a beloved local artist, has already sold her watercolor, “Walking to Petersham Common,” but there are many other treasures waiting to be discovered for every visitor.

For the Floral Arranging class, Lynn Hartman will return to PAC on Saturday, July 16, from 10 a.m. to noon. Hartman owns Hartman’s Herb farm in Barre, where she specializes in floral arrangements, wreaths and herbal bouquets, besides hosting and decorating for wedding and special events. Participants will bring a vase from home and Hartman will bring the flowers, to show the techniques and skills that professionals use to create stunning floral displays.

Petersham Art Center is the non-profit home for the art and craft of the North Quabbin region, located at 8 North St., off Route 32, in Petersham. The fundraising exhibit and art center shop is open Wednesday through Sunday, noon to 4 p.m. Please call 978-724-3415 for more information and to register for classes. There is a fee for the Floral Arranging Class.
