Bobbie Richmond (Holley) | Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Bobbie A. Richmond (Holley) on January 13, 2023, at the age of 79 from a brief and unexpected illness, two weeks before her 80th birthday.
Her tenacity for life, strong will and endless loving care for her family is her enduring legacy and will live on in all of us.
After spending most of her childhood in Daniels, West Virginia, she graduated from Shady Spring High School in 1960. While in school, she was May Queen, on the prom court, student council, and a majorette in the marching band. It was during high school that she met the love of her life, Ray. After marrying in 1963, they lived in the Washington, DC, area before returning home to West Virginia to raise their family. They just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on January fourth and enjoyed spending time with their dear friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Anderson Holley and Frances Elaine Holley (Thompson). She was also preceded in death by her son, Michael Douglas Richmond.
She is survived by her husband, H. Ray Richmond, and her two sons H. Robert Richmond of Lake Placid, Florida, and J. David Richmond, M.D., of Northampton, Massachusetts. She additionally has a surviving sister, Billie Jean Kruse, of Edgewater, Florida. She has six wonderful grandchildren. They are Madeline Hill of Charlotte, North Carolina; Caroline Richmond of Indian Land, South Carolina; Alexandra Richmond and Creek Richmond of Morgantown, West Virginia; Hailey Richmond and Marley Richmond of Lake Placid, Florida.
After the loss of Michael in 2019, she and Ray set up a foundation in honor of him through the Beckley Area Foundation: an ALS Fund to be used by Hospice of Southern WV to provide patients suffering from ALS with equipment, transportation, and caregiver services.
Donations to this fund or the Beckley Presbyterian Church are deeply appreciated in lieu of flowers.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at 2 PM at the Beckley Presbyterian Church. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to services at the church. A reception will immediately follow at the church, where food and beverages will be available.
Private online condolences and other expressions of sympathy may be directed to the family via our guestbook at www.roseandquesenberry.net.
Arrangements are by Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, 729 Flat Top Road, Shady Spring, WV.
