Bride spends 200 hours knitting wedding dress for $290: ‘So precious and unique’

A newlywed bride has revealed she spent over 200 hours knitting her very own wedding dress.

Veronika Linberg, a knitting content creator, decided to knit her own wedding dress in an effort to show “how fashionable knitwear can be” and to promote the process behind “slow fashion.”

In an essay published in Insider, Linberg revealed that she paid $290 for 30 balls of white pure silk yarn.

The knit designer made sure to document the process for a Youtube clip, capturing all the positive moments, as well as the set backs, she experienced over the 45 days it took to for the dress to be completed.

Initially, Linberg said she had reservations about the design of her dress as she didn’t want it to have no shape or look like a “a pajama dress.”

“About two weeks in, I had finished the bodice but tried it on and found out it was way too big for me,” Lindberg wrote. “I ended up having to rip it back up and start all over again.”

“When I made the sleeves, they kept slipping down and exposing my chest, so that was pretty funny and took me a while to fix.”

Throughout the 45-day/200 hour process, Linberg only focused on creating her wedding dress and had to put other projects on pause.

Finally, Linberg completed her dress and said she felt relief once it was done.

“When I put it on for the ceremony, I felt such relief, and I could not have been happier with the finished product,” she reflected.

Despite experiencing challenges throughout the process, Linberg was content with the outcome and hoped to debunk the myth that knitting is just for elderly people.

“It’s wonderful to be able to choose your own materials and produce something that is tailored to your own liking and vision,” she said.

Linberg’s Youtube clip garnered plenty of internet attention with many users taking to the comment section to praise her.
