Bride’s Dad Recruits Tim McGraw To Perform “My Little Girl” During Their Father-Daughter Dance

Picking out the right songs for your wedding day is hard.

It’s one of the most underrated to-dos for your wedding. Even if you just narrow it down to country music options (obviously) there is still a lot to choose from.

And on top of building a playlist for your DJ or MC, most couples are also tasked with selecting the Mother-Son Dance Song, the First Dance Song, and the most emotional of the night – the Daddy-Daughter Dance Song.

But for one recent bride, the task of selecting the song for the special dance with her father came easily, and her father took the opportunity to have that same song performed live for his daughter as a neat surprise at the reception.

What did they select? The absolutely heart-wrenching, gut-punching, 2006 Tim McGraw release, “My Little Girl.”

In a reaction video on social media recently, Tim re-watched the official video for “My Little Girl” and reflected on the writing.

The song is one of only a few songs that Tim himself helped write in his career, and he shared how special the song was for him as a girl dad:

“Being a girl dad and having three daughters… we were writing it for the movie, and all the emotions about a father-daughter relationship came out because of the movie, but it was really a more personal song than that to me… it’s a pretty special, a pretty special song.”

@timmcgraw It’s so special to hear all of your stories about this song…. there’s nothing like being a Girl Dad! #MyLittleGirl #GirlDad ♬ original sound – Tim McGraw

And maybe it’s because of the song’s magnitude that Tim took on the opportunity to perform a live father-daughter dance with gusto, singing the special song live and shocking the bride with his appearance.

The video shows the music and vocals beginning and the daughter reacting to the song selection before her father spins her around on the floor to see Tim on stage performing.

I think it’s safe to say this dad made his daughter’s night with this surprise.
