Call The Midwife’s Helen George is a blushing bride as she ties the knot on-screen with Olly Rix

Helen George and Olly Rix looked ever the joyous newleyweds as they filmed for the new season of Call The Midwife.

The co-stars, who portray Trixie Franklin and Matthew Aylward, characters were getting married in the scenes – with a lavish wedding celebration in full force. 

Filming in West London, the scenes reveal that character Trixie will finally get her happily ever after, following a break from the show during season 11.

In the filming shots, Helen sports a 1960s inspired ivory wedding gown with a long sleeve and slightly off the shoulder neckline.

Her bright blonde locks were pulled back into a sleek low bun for the bridal look, with one front section sweeping to the side as she donned a trapsing veil.

Holding onto a small bouquet of flowers, the star beamed as she linked arms with new on-screen husband Olly.

Olly’s ensemble was very fitting of the 1950s/60s set show, as he donned a black tailcoat with pinstrip trousers and a satin tie/waistcoat combo.

The actor looked dapper with his hair slicked back, with a small buttonhole flower on the left side of his coat.

Helen and Olly leaned in for a sweet kiss while rolling, as the bride cupped his face while leaning in close.

The pair were showered in confetti for the celebration as co-stars flocked to the nuptials – with nuns in the background. 

Laura Main, who plays Shelagh Turner, was snapped on set with co-star Georgie Glen, who plays Millicent Higgin.

Sporting a dusty blue dress with a high collar and below the knee hem, Laura added a matching pillbox hat for the scenes.

While Georgie was clad in a burgundy two-piece ensemble with a button-up design and matching cloche hat.

Character Shelagh’s husband Dr Patrick Turner, played by Stephen McGann, was suited and booted for the occasion in a black three-piece tailored ensemble and green tie.

While Cliff Parisi, who plays Fred Buckle in the series was all smiles in a grey suit and top hat as he wrapped an arm around on-screen son Reggie (Daniel Laurie).

Trixie and Matthew met during series 10 of the show when his wife gave birth at the Lady Emily Clinic, before passing away in an episode later. 

Helen left Call The Midwife halfway through season 11 due to her real-life pregnancy, but confirmed earlier this year that she would be back on screen for the new series.

The BBC drama will return with a Christmas special on Christmas Day and season 12 is expected to follow in the weeks after.
