Carilyn Joyce Pollock, 89, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away March 5, 2023, with family by her side.

She was born to the late Leo and Katherine Baldwin on Dec. 20, 1933, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She shares her birthday with her twin sister, Marilyn Ohrt.

Carilyn was raised in Vinton, Iowa, and graduated from Vinton High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Roy Pollock, on Jan. 23, 1955. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this year. Prior to marriage, Carilyn worked at the phone company in Vinton as an operator, and then again after marriage in Iowa City, when Roy was attending the University of Iowa. After graduation they made their home and raised their family in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Stella Mae Ohrt.

Carilyn would say her greatest joy was her family. She liked nothing better than to be surrounded by her children, their spouses, and grandchildren. She loved gardening, flowers, and birds. She kept beautiful pots of flowers and feeders for cardinals and hummingbirds around her home. Carilyn was loved by all who met her. She was warm, friendly, and easy to talk to. She, without hesitation, was willing to help out family or friends in any situation.
