Country singer Cliona Hagan reveals she helped design her bespoke wedding dress

Cliona Hagan has revealed that she’s played a huge role in the design process of her bespoke wedding dress.

he Irish country star is gearing up to marry her fiancé Simon Sheerin in Kilronan Castle this May and is working with renowned designer Geraldine O’Meara to create the wedding dress of her dreams for the big day.

Speaking to RSVP Country, Cliona said that she’s worked very closely with Geraldine and can’t wait to wear her white dress complete with a sweetheart corset and thin straps.

“It has low back with Pippa Middleton style buttons running into a long trail – but it can be detached for dancing!” the Tyrone native explained.

“It’s a brilliant white, I didn’t realise there were about five billion shades of white [laughs]. Of course, there is lots of bling bling as well.

“I have had about 90 percent say in it and then Geraldine has enhanced the rest.

“She knows so much more than me and she has been so wonderful to work with. The structure is really important. She has made sure I will be comfortable with the right materials. She’s amazing!”

And Cliona’s fiancé Simon has decided not to opt for the traditional suit and tie when he ties the knot.

He shared: “It will be jeans for me on the day. Nice jeans though!

“The suit is from GUY Clothing in Tullamore. Anthony in the shop is so accommodating, I came with a few ideas and he has made them all happen so easily.

“They are dressing me, the groomsmen, my dad and Cliona’s dad. I’m going for very dark colours and I’ll look a bit different to your typical groom.

“We want to feel like ourselves and enjoy ourselves, definitely! We would dress formally for a lot of our shows so I am used to what I like and I am comfortable in certain styles.

“Some people only dress formally on special occasions, but when you do it when in, when out, you know what works,” he added.

The couple got engaged in December after Simon staged a fairytale proposal at Lough Ree in Co. Westmeath complete with a “beautiful arch and flowers, and a red carpet and candles.”
