County Approves CUP for Wedding Venue – Sheridan Media

A Conditional Use Permit (CUP) has been approved by the Sheridan County Commission to operate a commercial wedding venue on a private property that is zoned A-Agricultral.

County Planner Mark Reid explained that the Shawn G. Madden Trust had applied for the CUP for Cassie Madden to operate the business on 46 acrea of the larger 91+ acre property on Decker Road.

The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval with some conditions including lighting restrictions and Wyoming Department of Transportation approval of highway access and signage.

Reid explained further.

Concerns mentioned in the public hearing were possible noise, light pollution, increase in traffic and impaired drivers with the main concern over line-of-sight issues at the entrance to the property on Decker Road that could be a danger to the public.

The concerns were discussed by both the commissioners and the property owner, and the line-of-sight issues will be addressed by WYDOT engineers that are studying the application.

The commission voted to approve with Chairman Lonnie Wright voting against.
