David and Judy Michalak celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Sunday, June 5 at Our Lady of the Scapular Church in Wyandotte (formerly Our Lady of Mt Carmel) with a vow renewal ceremony. Father Mark Borkowski celebrated the church mass and bestowed a special blessing on the couple.
The couple, now living in Birmingham, was married in 1972 at Our Lady of Mt Carmel. They also renewed their vows on their 25th anniversary at their Grosse Ile home. At that time Judy said that she was looking forward to their 50th anniversary and said she’d “let the kids plan that one.” Their children and other relatives did plan the event and took the original plan of a small dinner with about 20 guests and turned it into a party with 60 attendees.
