The girlfriend of an NRL star dropped a major hint to her famous boyfriend with her choice in gown on last night’s red carpet.
It’s usually a dress only fit for a bride – but last night, multiple WAGs proved wedding gowns aren’t just for your big day.
A bridal theme emerged among the wives and girlfriends of the famous NRL stars at the 2021 Dally M Awards last night where Manly Sea Eagles fullback Tom Trbojevic won the prestigious medal.
Leading the pack at Howard Smith Wharves in Brisbane wearing a full, flouncy, satin wedding dress was Taryn Carson, girlfriend of Rabbitohs star Alex Johnston.
The strapless gown, designed by bridal designer Karen Willis Holmes, featured statement ruffled sleeves and a long train.
It also featured a sexy thigh split that flashed Taryn’s legs as she posed for snaps alongside her partner on the red carpet.
The pair are parents to seven-month-old son Sonny but are not married, a point Taryn joked about in an Instagram post from the event.
“JUST MARRIED… just kidding. Thank you to the beautiful people who helped this mumma dress up and feel like a Disney Princess,” she said.
Reaction to her $5,490 dress was strong, with Taryn’s friends and family commenting the new mother looked “insane”.
“You guys look absolutely stunning,” one wrote.
“You look INSAAAAAANE,” another said.
While one added: “Looking incredible!”
Kristi Wilkinson, girlfriend of the 2021 Daly M Award-winner, also rocked what appeared to be a white wedding dress on the red carpet.
She stunned in a figure-hugging silk Aura Gown from the brand Grace Loves Lace – a popular choice among brides – that had a fishtail finish.
Kristi finished the look with a white clutch and elegant jewellery, her blonde hair tied up with loose tresses framing her face.
Brisbane Broncos player, Millie Boyle, also wore a white backless wedding gown from the Grace Loves Lace, that featured a long flowing train.
The 23-year-old, who was involved in a toilet tryst at a Gold Coast restaurant with former Bulldogs star Adam Elliott, was all smiles as she posed in the figure-hugging white dress.
“Dally M 2021 styled by my fave @jamieazzopardi wearing the beautiful @grace_loves_lace,” she wrote on her Instagram when sharing a snap of the glamorous outfit.
Many were quick to compliment Millie, describing the outfit as “beautiful” and “stunning”.
“Holllyyyy smokes girl,” one fan said.
“WHAT A WOMAN,” another added.
It wasn’t all wedding gowns on the red carpet though, with Kelsey Browne – the girlfriend of Storm player Ryan Papenhuyzen – opting for a gorgeous bright pink number.
Her standout floor-length dress, that flashed a cheeky bit of flesh on the midriff, was from House of Zhivago – with Kelsey revealing on Instagram her entire Dally M look was “pulled together in four days”.
Kelly Turner, wife of Rabbitohs player Dane Gagai, also went for a bold colour, choosing a red strapless ball gown for the annual event.
The satin gown featured a thigh-high split with ruffled detailing along the waist and neckline. She finished the look with nude strapped heels and a matching clutch, her brunette hair in loose waves.
Many other WAGs went for black dresses and gowns, with Maria Glinellis, the girlfriend of Rooster’s player James Tedesco choosing one that featured sexy cut outs on the waist and across her bust.
Kate Daly, the wife of Broncos player Ali Brigginshaw, chose a traditional black satin gown with a bow detailing on the hip.
While Zoe Warwick, the partner of Matt Burton, wore a ruffled black number that had sheer panels.
