EastEnders always goes big over Christmas, especially with the episodes that air on Christmas Day and New Year.

This year could be no different, as small teasers have been revealed – ahead of full spoilers being released very soon.

From reports of a terrorist bomb leaving lives in danger, to a double wedding and the possible downfall of serial killer Gray Atkins, it’s set to be a dark Christmas and New Year it seems.

Cast were recently spotted filming a double wedding, with it confirmed Denise Fox and Jack Branning, and her pregnant daughter Chelsea Fox and her partner Gray Atkins are all tying the knot.

But it seems Gray’s killer games could be up, as This Morning’s Sharon Marshall teased Whitney Dean could be well and truly onto him and his dark behaviour.

No one knows that Gray murdered his previous wife Chantelle Atkins last year, and he later killed Tina Carter and Kush Kazemi.

Whether Whitney will expose Gray remains to be confirmed – while reports from filming at the wedding location teased the killer might be stood up.

Elsewhere, it was also recently reported that a bomb could leave lives on the line.

A source told The Sun in October: ” EastEnders writers are under more pressure than ever to make the show’s Christmas episodes a success.

“With the battle for ratings harder than ever, bosses are really keen to pull out the big guns for an explosive 2021 — in this case, quite literally. Scripts have been written focused around a bomb being planted in Albert Square — no one will be safe.”

An insider added: “Bosses are staying tight-lipped about exactly what they have coming up for Christmas this year, but they are pulling out all the stops.

“With secrets plotted all over the Square, it’s only right and in typical EastEnders style that many of these look set to be exposed around the festivities.

“Put it this way, if you lived in Albert Square, you’d be grateful to receive just a pair of socks this year.”

So it means there is huge scenes ahead, with danger, Whitney possibly bringing down Gray and the wedding maybe not going to plan.

That said, none of this has been confirmed by the BBC soap with the official spoilers yet to be out there – however, they will be shared within days.

Emmerdale teases Aaron Dingle’s exit plot after murder as Danny Miller quits ITV soap

Meanwhile, it’s been speculated the truth about Tina’s murder could be exposed a year on from her surprise death.

There’s also hints of a return from Max Branning, who is currently on the run with young granddaughter Abi, after Mick Carter actor Danny Dyer teased the possibility.

Danny said on Good Morning Britain in September: “It goes right off at Christmas, let me tell you that now. Of course it does, it’s Walford innit mate.”

When asked if Max would make a comeback, Danny said: “Well it’s open for him to come back for sure, the fact that he’s now got a baby with Linda.

“The drama really only works there if he’s about. We’re in the realms of the Square finding out, which means that we’re panicking slightly and we need to get out of the Square.”

With Rocky and Dotty Cotton’s secret still under threat, Tiffany Butcher’s looming exit and heartache for Stuart Highway, there’s bound to be more twists and turns on the way too.

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
