Elaine Georgia Lawson

Longtime, Goodland, KS resident Elaine Georgia Lawson (Sayre), 88, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at the Goodland Reginal Medical Center of Goodland, Kansas.

Elaine was born on April 6, 1934, in Harrison, Nebraska, to Ivy L. and Nora (Milton) Sayre.  She attended school at Mitchell High School in 1952.

Elaine married Robert Noah Lawson in Mitchell, Nebraska on July 3rd, 1953. To this Union, 3 children were born Cynthia, Christi, and Robert.

In school, she played volleyball and softball.  In her adult life, she and Bob loved spending time with her 14 siblings, which included family picnics and events, attending evening concerts in which her twin brother Duane played guitar in a live band.  She enjoyed sewing, making clothes for her daughter’s which included making Cindi’s wedding dress, making Christi a prom dress and making outfits later in life for her grandchildren.  She enjoyed doing ceramics with Bob and the kids, cooking, and camping with Bob and the kids, bowling, gambling at the casino in South Dakota and Colorado, playing bingo with her family, and most of all she was a loving Mother and Grandmother and a devoted Wife.  She was also a member of Eastern Star in Nebraska and the Goodland United Methodist Church.

Elaine was preceded in her death by her parents, Ivy and Nora Sayre, her husband Robert Lawson, her In-Laws, her grandson Robert Joseph (R.J.) Lawson, her brothers Glen, Ralph, Leo, and twin Duane Sayre, her sisters Cleo Maxine, Viola Leta, Shirley, Martha, and Mary.

She is survived by her children Cynthia J. (Bradley) Smith, Christi K. (Randy) Mather, and Rob (Patty) Lawson. Patsy McGuire, Ashley DeGraffenreid, Jacilyn Schlosser, Dustin Mather, Heather Hadley, Charli Enfield, Kaileigh Sterling, Emma Mather, Calista Schlosser, Delaney Enfield, and Kinlee Enfield.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 8, 2022, at 10:00 AM MT at Koons-Russell Funeral Home in Goodland with Pastor Brent Flanders officiating. Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery, in Goodland, Kansas.
