Her sister, Alex Pilon, has a passion for flowers and floral arrangements. Together, they’ve merged their shared interests as Bloom Bake Shop, a new business on Hartford’s Pratt Street.

“We love all things local, floral, and baked,” the sisters note in an introduction on Bloom’s website.

Beaudoin, who graduated from Johnson & Wales’ culinary program, always had a dream to open a bakery and coffee shop, she said. She originally started the business in 2020, first working out of a commercial kitchen space in Hartford’s Swift Factory and selling baked goods at farmers’ markets and other pop-up events. Pilon and their father, Rich Beaudoin, joined the business a year later.

“We started seeing a lot of synergies, because Monica makes a lot of wedding cakes, and often times, brides were asking for flowers to decorate the cakes,” Pilon said.

They opened the Bloom Bake Shop storefront on Pratt Street Aug. 25, offering freshly-baked pastries, coffee and espresso drinks and a flower bar. Bloom sells small and large arranged bouquets and bud vases, and the sisters said customers will treat themselves to floral pick-me-ups, bringing the flowers back to their work desks or dorm rooms.

Pilon sources most of the flowers from the Connecticut Flower Collective in Meriden, she said, a group of nearly 30 farms in Connecticut and New York that offers locally grown specialty cut flowers.

The baked goods rotate often, and the day’s best seller “depends on what the bakery smells like at the moment,” Monica Beaudoin said – it could be pumpkin bread, or cinnamon rolls. Breakfast pastries include scones and muffins, and as morning stretches into afternoon, the offerings trend toward dessert, like cookies, brownies or biscotti.

Edible flower shortbread cookies are one of Bloom’s signature items, featuring seasonal flowers pressed into the dough. Flourless brownies are another popular seller, which Monica Beaudoin describes as “really fudgy” – and they’re also gluten-free.

Bloom handles a large amount of catering, Pilon said, offering breakfast and dessert platters and custom cakes for weddings and special events.

“Monica has a really amazing artistic side that comes out in her decorating,” she said of her sister.

The Bloom team has plans to slowly expand the menu, with a goal to add more savory items like breakfast sandwiches, salads and light lunch sandwiches. The bakery’s grab-and-go case currently offers fruit salads and charcuterie boxes, which guests have appreciated, Pilon said.

Monica Beaudoin said she’s excited for the upcoming holiday season, with plans for a large pre-order menu for Thanksgiving and Christmas: pies, desserts and breakfast pastries. The shop will also offer flower arrangements for holiday gatherings.

The sisters also plan to host cookie decorating classes and other events in their space, they said.

Pratt Street, the picturesque downtown Hartford location that’s home to several boutique businesses (and has appeared as a backdrop in a few Hallmark movies) has been the ideal landing spot for Bloom’s first storefront, Beaudoin and Pilon said.

“We feel really lucky to be in the location we’re in right now,” Pilon said. “It’s just such a beautiful facade and beautiful building. This space really just said ‘bakery/flower shop’ to us when we first saw it.”

Taking Vows: Katherine Patricia Casey Marries Matthew Walker Peacock | Weddings https://weddingdreams.news/taking-vows-katherine-patricia-casey-marries-matthew-walker-peacock-weddings/ https://weddingdreams.news/taking-vows-katherine-patricia-casey-marries-matthew-walker-peacock-weddings/#respond Thu, 05 Sep 2024 11:17:48 +0000 https://weddingdreams.news/?p=73 Matt Peacock and Kate Casey met in 2012, on the first day of school at Boston College, where they lived in the same dormitory. Matt proposed in November 2020. “As it was the depths of COVID lockdown, Matt got creative and decorated the roof of our house in Houston to be a lovely, intimate, flower-covered proposal spot,” said Kate.

The couple married in August 2022 at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville, with Michael Wenyon officiating. “He’s one of our best friends,” said Kate. “And it was his first time officiating. He did a fantastic job! We’ve been together for nearly a decade, and it was so special to have our good friend perform the ceremony in a place that means so much to Matt.” The bride’s grandfather said a few words, as did the groom’s aunt, Connie Shriner. “We said our own vows,” said Kate. “And I’m so glad we did.”

The Tulip Tree designed the reception flowers, as well as the bride’s bouquet of cascading calla lilies. Please Be Seated provided the seating, and The Downtown Band played for dancing. Kristen Winston catered the dinner, Dessert Designs created the cake and Jayne Bubis organized the event. The couple made a surprise entrance by popping up through the piano riser on the stage.

There was only one glitch on the perfect day. The morning of the wedding, Kate realized she had left her bridal shoes in Houston. “One of my aunts combed every mall in Nashville to find me a very similar pair right before the ceremony,” said Kate.

Their parents are Kathryn Casey of Austin, Texas, and Nancy and Mark Peacock of Nashville.

3 things we love about Vera Wang’s Paris study stint https://weddingdreams.news/3-things-we-love-about-vera-wangs-paris-study-stint/ https://weddingdreams.news/3-things-we-love-about-vera-wangs-paris-study-stint/#respond Thu, 05 Sep 2024 11:07:46 +0000 https://weddingdreams.news/?p=74 Vera Wang is more than a romanticist, she is a sentimentalist. The Council of Fashion Designers of America’s (CFDA) Lifetime Achievement Award winner does not forget the past easily. “Things that came before, people and things and experiences — that does mean something to me. It doesn’t mean I don’t embrace the new, but I don’t forget the past either,” she told Women’s Wear Daily.

After retiring from figure skating in her late teens, Wang decided to look for greener pastures. Little did she know that she would not only spend her days strolling down Avenue Montaigne, shop at Kenzo, and then pop into the tiny Louis XIV restaurant nearby for lunch when she chose to study abroad. The former Art History major’s life would change forever.

Though the fashion mogul’s rise to fame needs no introduction, there is a part of her that many do not know and have yet to catch a glimpse of. Wang, 73, is still holding on to something she cannot seem to let go of — her passionate love affair with the City of Light, where she spent a year abroad as a 19-year-old. The Sarah Lawrence College graduate learnt a lot about herself during her time at the University of Paris (metonymically known as the Sorbonne) where she “did not live the life of a typical exchange student”.

Here’s how an international education helped shape Wang into the person she is today:

Bride-to-be uninvites best man because he’s ‘in love with fiancé’

1. Vera Wang’s love for fashion blossomed in Paris

The debutante was born and raised in Manhattan. Upon her first visit to Paris at the age of six, Wang was gifted with a pair of charcoal-grey patent leather Mary Janes. “I was a typical kid: I got my school shoes in the fall and I got my Easter shoes in April. And I looked at my feet and I was just mesmerised by them,” she was quoted to have said by The New York Times.

“They were shiny and to me, fancy,” she added. “It was my first feeling of being intrigued by fashion. By clothing. By things you wear. It was raining that night and I remember looking down at my feet and I suddenly just had this awakening or something.”

Since then, the Wang family has made Paris almost like a second home. But Wang did not truly feel at ease until she walked down the streets of the city dressed in a navy blue peacoat, grey flannel slacks and a turtleneck. “That was the first time that I really became Parisian,” she said.

2. She also found romantic love while studying there

Paris is not just the City of Light, it is the City of Love too. It was here that Wang fell in love with a professional figure skater Patrick Péra, who was on the French national team. During her study abroad stint, she took the time to travel around France in order to attend his competitions.

Thanks to her boyfriend being a member of the hottest nightclubs in Paris at the time, Wang was able to mix with the sophisticated and the upper class. “It was like Studio 54. You would see Alain Delon there. You would see Jean-Paul Belmondo,” she recalled.

3. Vera Wang’s fateful chance meeting

Wang shared with The New York Times about how there’s too much history in Paris for her to return home — glimpses of what her life once was and will no longer again be still affect her deeply.

Fortunately for thousands of brides-to-be, fashion enthusiasts, and women all over the world, Wang did feel the pull of the City of Light. A chance meeting with an editor at Paris Vogue during an art history class at the Sorbonne propelled the exchange student to confront her newfound calling: “When I go back to New York, when I finish college, Sarah Lawrence, then I want to be that. That’s what I want to do.”

Wang then went down in history as the youngest editor Vogue ever had, and worked there until she turned 33. To catch her breath before her next move, it was still Paris she turned to. “It takes great courage to just live when you’ve kept yourself busy. My own country has always been about career: getting it done, always worrying but not wasting time, trying to be efficient. But Paris taught me how to live,” the Upper East side girl explained.

Miss Manners: How do you say no to being in a wedding party? https://weddingdreams.news/miss-manners-how-do-you-say-no-to-being-in-a-wedding-party/ https://weddingdreams.news/miss-manners-how-do-you-say-no-to-being-in-a-wedding-party/#respond Thu, 05 Sep 2024 10:54:18 +0000 https://weddingdreams.news/?p=69 Dear Miss Manners: My wife has become friendly with my friend’s fiancee over the past two years or so, but when she asked my wife to be in her wedding party, the request came as a bit of a surprise. My wife said yes, and has been regretting it ever since.

We knew that the wedding was going to involve travel, but the list of responsibilities keeps expanding. It now includes multiple wedding dress fittings, a bridesmaid’s dress fitting, a bridal shower and a New York City bachelorette weekend — not to mention the wedding itself, also in New York. So she’s paying for two $700+ plane tickets, plus all the other gifts, dresses, travel expenses, etc.

Behind all this are dozens of planning emails that require delicate opinions and compromises, adding further stress to my wife’’ normal day-to-day work responsibilities and social schedule.

Having gone through my own “this is way too much” groomsman experience, which required way more time and money than I expected, we kept things simple for our own wedding. We did not have a wedding party, any pre-wedding showers or a gift registry, wanting to save our friends and families some time and money.

Kate and Meghan second wedding dresses ‘express who they really are’ – ‘far more her’Written by Marlene Summers

At this point, we understand that she’s committed, and we’re trying to keep a positive mind-set about everything. But looking back, given the opportunity to say “thanks, but no thanks,” she would have.

Is that possible to do without ruining the relationship? If so, how would you frame your response?

“Thank you, I feel highly honored. But please tell me what this would involve.” Followed, if necessary, by, “I’m afraid I won’t be able to manage all that. But I’ll be your most enthusiastic guest.”

Miss Manners urges all prospective bridesmaids, and groomsmen, for that matter, to have this conversation before committing. She has heard from far too many people who have agreed blindly to a situation where they lose control over their own time and money.

It shouldn’t be that way, of course. As people who are in a wedding party are presumably closely connected to the bridal couple, they should be treated as friends, not indentured servants. That means that their convenience should be considered, and their agreement must be obtained to any commitment beyond standing up at the altar.

Many couples have come to think that they are solely in charge of making arrangements — essentially dictating what auxiliary parties are to be given in their own honor. Miss Manners is gratified to hear that you and your wife are not among them.

Dear Miss Manners: Is it improper to cut food with the side of your fork?

For obscure reasons, it is actually considered better to do so — but it is not always easy.

New Miss Manners columns are posted Monday through Saturday on washingtonpost.com/advice. You can send questions to Miss Manners at her website, MissManners.com. You can also follow her @RealMissManners.

Thor Mining PLC kicks off drilling at Wedding Bell and Radium Mountain https://weddingdreams.news/thor-mining-plc-kicks-off-drilling-at-wedding-bell-and-radium-mountain/ https://weddingdreams.news/thor-mining-plc-kicks-off-drilling-at-wedding-bell-and-radium-mountain/#respond Thu, 05 Sep 2024 10:47:02 +0000 https://weddingdreams.news/?p=67 Thor Mining PLC (AIM:THR, OTC:THORF, ASX:THR) told investors that drilling has now begun at the Wedding Bell and Radium Mountain projects, located in the historic uranium-vanadium mining district in southwest Colorado.

It will be a 2,000-metre maiden drill campaign which is prioritising the Rim Rock, Groundhog and Section 23 prospects, Thor highlighted in a statement.

Specifically, the drilling is targeting a prospective ‘Salt Wash’ horizon of sandstone-hosted uranium and vanadium mineralisation – anticipated at shallow depths of around 80 metres – and, at Rim Rock and Groundhog, it will test possible extensions to high-grade uranium and vanadium mineralisation seen in samples taken from historic workings.

“Commencement of drilling at the Wedding Bell Project is a significant milestone for Thor,” said managing director Nicole Galloway Warland.

“We look forward to testing these shallow, high-grade targets, especially Section 23, where Thor will be the first company to access and drill test this highly prospective area.

“Short to long-term fundaments for nuclear energy are the best in over 50 years, with demand increasing due to electrification, climate change carbon emission initiatives, responses to the global energy crisis exacerbated in Europe by the Russian invasion, and advancements in small modular reactors (SMR).”

“As uranium prices rise and the US looks to secure domestic uranium supply, Thor is in an excellent position to advance this promising US asset.”

The first photo of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s ledger stone has been shared with the public, surrounded by symbolic wreaths from the Royal Family.

Following Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral(opens in new tab), the Royal Family has shared the first image of her Majesty’s final resting place, surrounded by floral wreaths, baring handwritten notes from her family.

The late Queen has been laid to rest at St George’s Chapel, alongside her parents King George VI and Elizabeth the Queen Mother and her beloved husband of 73 years(opens in new tab), the Duke of Edinburgh, plus the ashes of her late sister Princess Margaret who died in 2002.

The hand-crafted stone, which is made from black marble, features all of their names (except Princess Margaret, who has her own memorial stone within the chapel) inscribed with brass inlays, with the star of Most Noble Order of the Garter clearly visible in the centre of the ledger.

The new image was shared on the royal family’s official Instagram, with a caption that read, “A photograph is released today of the ledger stone now installed at the King George VI Memorial Chapel, following the interment of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. The King George VI Memorial Chapel sits within the walls of St George’s Chapel, Windsor.”

The photograph shows the ledger surrounded by floral wreaths, including what looks to be the Queen’s coffin wreath in the foreground. The colourful display features flowers taken from Buckingham Palace, Clarence House and Highgrove and carried a handwritten note from King Charles that reads, ‘In loving and devoted memory.’

The floral arrangement’s all carried symbolic meanings(opens in new tab), including cuttings of Mrtyle – which the Queen carried in her wedding bouquet and sprigs of Rosemary, which represent remembrance.

Among the other white and blue wreaths visible, is said to be one from the Prince and Princess of Wales, also baring a handwritten tribute to the late Majesty.

Royal mourners were deeply touched by the photo, with many taking to the comments to thank the family for sharing something so ‘personal’ with them.

One wrote, “Thank you for sharing this, very personal. Now they are all together again.”

While another member of the public commented, “This is so beautiful! All together forever.”

Cumbria couple tied knot after three Covid-19 wedding delays Written by Marlene Summers

He may be the last ruler of England not to be born in a hospital. Both of his sons Prince William and Prince Harry were born in the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London. Prince George, who is currently second in line to the throne, was also born at St Mary’s Hospital.

Charles became heir apparent to the throne at just three years old.

Queen Elizabeth was crowned monarch on February 6, 1952, after the death of her father King George VI. She was just 25 years old at the time. Her eldest child, 4-year-old Charles, then became heir to the throne.

Charles ascended to the throne on September 8, 2022, following the death of his mother. He was the longest-serving heir apparent in British history, a position which he held for 70 years.  At the age of 73, Charles is also the oldest person to assume the British throne.

Despite being royalty, Charles didn’t have an easy childhood and was picked on at school for his appearance.

Charles was the first royal heir apparent to be educated outside of the palace. The young prince attended Hill House School in London, where he mingled with other students. He later transferred to Cheam School in Hampshire, a boarding school that his father Prince Philip had attended.

According to Vanity Fair, Charles was homesick during his time away at school and sent letters home on a weekly basis. He was also reportedly bullied at school by other children who taunted him for his protruding ears and weight. Sensitive and not particularly gifted athletically, Charles preferred his own company and loved to paint and draw.

Some of Charles’ favorite foods include plums, boiled eggs, and lamb with wild mushroom risotto.

A former royal chef told Delish that the royal’s typical breakfast includes plums from his own garden and granola. He also shared that one of Charles’ favorite meals is lamb with mushroom risotto.

Charles only met Princess Diana 13 times before they were wed in 1989.

According to Town and Country, many of Charles’ and Diana’s first conversations took place over the phone. Less than a year after the couple began dating and after only 13 in-person meetings, then-Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer announced their engagement.

On July 29, 1981, Charles and Diana were married in a spectacular televised ceremony. It was then called the “wedding of the century.” Roughly 750 million people in 74 different countries tuned in to watch the couple tie the knot, in addition to the 600,000 spectators who lined the streets of London.

Charles broke royal precedent by being present at the births of his two children.

Princess Diana was the first royal to give birth in a hospital — it was custom for members of the royal family to give birth at the palace. Charles was also present at the birth of both of his sons, which broke royal precedent.

Diana and Charles reportedly disagreed on what their first son should be named. According to Diana herself in Andrew Morton’s book, “Diana: Her True Story,” Charles originally wanted William to be named Arthur.

Charles met his future wife Camilla at a polo match at Windsor Castle in 1970.

Despite Camilla and Charles’ blossoming romance, things fizzled out after he was deployed in the Royal Navy in 1972. He then began courting the future Princess Diana, who he would marry in July 1981.

Charles is both the godfather and stepfather of Camilla and her ex-husband Andrew Parker Bowles’ first son, Tom Parker Bowles.

While Charles was serving in the Royal Navy, Camilla became engaged to an Army cavalry officer, Andrew Parker Bowles. They married in 1973, but the couple remained good friends with the prince.

Camilla and Charles remained connected over the years, perhaps resulting in the dissolution of both of their marriages. Charles and Camilla officially married after years of courtship on April 5, 2002.

King Charles hasn’t been immune to scandal. His affair with Camilla Parker Bowles made national headlines in November 1992.

As Insider previously reported, an “intimate transcript of a 1989 phone call” between Charles and Camilla was released to the public in November 1992. The call was scandalous and sexual in nature, with Charles reportedly joking he would like to be transformed into a pair of Parker Bowles’ “knickers” or her tampon.

“I’ll just live inside your trousers or something,” he said. “It would be much easier.”

In August 1996, Charles and Diana officially filed for divorce after 15 years of marriage.

Following the death of Princess Diana, Charles traveled to Paris to bring her body back to England.

In the early hours of August 31, 1997, Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed were involved in a car crash that killed them both and their driver Henri Paul in Paris, France.

According to the Telegraph, Fayed and Paul were both killed on impact, while the Princess of Wales, then just 36, died due to injuries sustained in the crash at a French hospital a few hours later. King Charles (then Prince Charles) traveled to Paris immediately to retrieve his ex-wife’s body and bring her back to the UK.

Charles also reportedly halted plans to formally announce Camilla as his partner.

Worried About What To Wear On Your Wedding? Check Out These Dress Ideas https://weddingdreams.news/worried-about-what-to-wear-on-your-wedding-check-out-these-dress-ideas/ https://weddingdreams.news/worried-about-what-to-wear-on-your-wedding-check-out-these-dress-ideas/#respond Thu, 05 Sep 2024 10:23:17 +0000 https://weddingdreams.news/?p=48 Although they may seem unconventional, white bridal lehengas have the most charming features.

Every girl wants to look their best on their wedding day, and hence, everyone looks for something never-tried-before. Some brides prefer traditional, others want something light and unique. However, sometimes we just don’t know what to opt for. Either we like everything or nothing. But we got you covered here.

If you want something a bit heavy and royal queen-type look, the classic red-coloured lehenga is going to be the best for you.

If you want to dress up a bit bright and want a little hint of all kinds of colours, then you must go for a floral lehenga. If a floral lehenga is found in purple, you can try it not only on the wedding day but also at other functions.

Top showsha video

If you want to take something for an engagement look, there is nothing better than a raspberry lehenga. If you carry it with some good jewellery, you will get a minimal and elegant look.

If you are a fan of Alia Bhatt and want to follow her wedding dress, go for a white or off-white heavy sari. Over time, traditions have changed, as well as the mindset of the people behind weddings. Therefore, we are witnessing an increase in brides opting for white lehengas at their weddings. Although they may seem unconventional, white bridal lehengas have the most charming features.

If you are fond of pastels, count on a dusty pink lehenga. This will give you a very stylish and beautiful look as a modern bride.

From the Planner, Carrie Darling Events: After meeting through mutual friends at a dinner party, Nathan asked Laura if she would like to go to dinner sometime. They fell into a fast and easy relationship until Nathan knew it was time to propose. With the help of their sisters, he decorated his patio with 100 blush pink roses, cream lanterns, and a sign that said, “Will you marry me?” One day, after a long summer afternoon walk, he led Laura back to their townhouse, played a sweet video of time spent with family and friends, and then ushered her to the patio where his setup awaited. Their families were close by with a surprise dinner, waiting to celebrate afterward.

From the hanging star lanterns to the copper star tile table numbers, the whole theme was brought to life, creating the perfect organic boho vibe. Their signature drinks played along with fun names like “Star Makers” served with Makers Mark and “Rolling Sun” as a tribute to the couple’s new last name. Nathan surprised everyone during the first dance by breaking out into song and serenading Laura mid-dance for an unforgettable moment.

We want to take a look at some of the most iconic Meghan Markle outfits of all time – including the effortless ensemble she wore when she was first pictured with then boyfriend Prince Harry at the Invictus Games in Toronto in 2017, and her breathtaking Clare Waight Keller wedding dress for the royal wedding in 2018.

We also want to take a trip down memory lane and relive some of Meghan’s greatest looks as a working royal (and quite a few since she and Prince Harry stepped down from royal life in January 2020) and of course, not forgetting some of her best red carpet appearances from before she became the Duchess of Sussex and was best known as Rachel Zane from Suits.
