Florist gears up for busy season

WINTER HARBOR — With wedding season approaching, husband and wife team Pam and Arnold Di Ruggiero, owners of Schoodic in Bloom, are gearing up to create and deliver arrangements for an assortment of special occasions.

The year-round business has been located at 303 Main St. since last July. Before that, it shared space with the couple’s other business, the Winter Harbor Inn, across the street.

Arnold is the floral shop’s delivery driver and administrator, and Pam is the designer and custom florist, something she has been doing since she completed a course at the University of Maine in 2018.

“I just always loved flowers,” Pam said. “It’s a happy place for everybody.”

Along with floral arrangements, customers can find gifts, such as candles and lobster trap planters.

Shipments of flowers come in once to twice a week from farmers and growers all over the world, Arnold said, and travel straight from the airplane to the shop via special courier.

Those looking to order flowers can go to schoodicinbloom.com or call 1-844-SCHOODIC.

The shop delivers throughout the Downeast and Schoodic areas, including Ellsworth, Sullivan, Sorrento, Franklin, Steuben, Milbridge and Cherryfield.

Rebecca is the Schoodic-area reporter and covers the towns of Eastbrook, Franklin, Hancock, Lamoine, Sorrento, Sullivan, Waltham, Winter Harbor and Trenton. She lives in Ellsworth with her husband and baby boy who was joyously welcomed in June 2020. Feel free to send tips and story ideas to [email protected]
