There’s nothing like sharing a colorful garden wedding to lift our spirits mid-winter. Catherine and Theo’s al fresco nuptials took place outside her childhood home—a gorgeous Long Island property they could deck out with their love of good food and gatherings. Designer Penny Layne says, Catherine’s father was the landscape architect and her mother was a florist, so it was only fitting to have a refined, garden forward event that packed a colorful punch. When this was your childhood backyard, you sort of always know it’s fit for a dream wedding, right?!
When guests arrived, thy were greeted with champagne and sparkling water, and spent some time mingling around the property.
Their ceremony took place under a great oak under a new-age chuppah that channeled the groom’s jewish roots and the bride’s buddhist upbringing. An overgrown birch chuppah to embrace a deconstructed garden was anchored with gorgeous growing arrangements, wild smokebush, and aged clay pots to feel like it was growing there.
The couple met in the restaurant industry and share a love of great music and impeccable food, so the focus of their wedding wasn’t hard to settle on! Bonus points for all the joyful color they implemented throughout!
Funky candles are everywhere right now… So fun to see them as part of a romantic wedding design.
Guests enjoyed a cocktail hour by the pool where they sipped on cucumber gimlets, aperol spritzes, and dined on bites of fresh local steak tartare and broccoli arancine. The catering team also offered fresh oysters, littleneck clams, and peel and eat shrimp.
Such a beautiful space for a wonderful celebration of love!
