Cameo Florist was started by Larson’s in-laws, and he joined the business along with his wife 42 years ago. Once a familiar sight along Tabernacle Street in historic downtown St. George, the shop is now located on Hurricane’s State Street in a larger facility that has been remodeled to meet an ever-increasing demand. Along with floral gifts, they fulfill bulk orders for banquets, wedding receptions, school dances and more.
As the market has grown, access to floral products has also expanded. Cameo Florist now offers exquisite, freshly cut flowers shipped from as far away as South America or Asia. More exotic and unique varieties add to the excitement that receiving flowers as a gift already creates.
Many people enjoy the fragrances of fresh flowers, but Larson said watching an arrangement come to life is his favorite part of being a florist. Lilies uncurl and roses unfold day by day, revealing new beauty and transforming the entire bouquet. And every gift tells a different story – a celebration of accomplishment, a declaration of love, an offering of sympathy.
“There’s a lot of emotion tied to flowers,” he added. “When you just don’t know what to say, you can send flowers to express your feelings.”
