Tuesday would have been the 80th wedding anniversary of former Marshall resident Helen Mead and Willard Heath of Smithville at the East Eastwood home of her sister Ruth Mead Storts and her husband, Judge Perry Storts. The middle photo is that of the wedding party that was featured in T h e Daily Democrat- News.

Their children John Heath and Marilyn Heath Yasus and their children donated a commemorative bench in their memory, which was installed on the Missouri Valley College campus last Friday. Their local cousins Lela Mead and Lynda Mead Alsbach brought a bouquet of flowers which John purchased through Marshall Floral and posed on the bench with them in remembrance of the Missouri Valley graduates.

Willard Heath will be posthumously inducted into the Missouri Valley College Athletic Hall of Fame this fall. Helen returned to MVC to graduate in 1970 after Willard’s passing, and a plaque honoring her will be installed in the library.
