How does the After Eight Challenge work?

The rules for this game are nice and simple, ideal if your guests have had a few wines or are on the young side. For readers in the US, if you’ve never heard of an After Eight, it’s simply a thin square of cholate with a mint filling. These are handy for this game because they each come in their own plastic sleeve in the box. However, any chocolate thins will do to play this game.

How to Play the After Eight Challenge – Version 1

To start, tilt your head back, and place an After Eight chocolate on your forehead. The object of the game is to slide it down your face and into your mouth, using only your facial expressions and tongue to manoeuvre the chocolate – not your hands! Naturally the heat from your face may cause it to melt a little, so it’s best to work quickly. The person at the table who manages to get the chocolate into their mouth first is the winner!

How to Play the After Eight Challenge – Version 2

There’s another version of this game that’s very fun, and would also be suitable for a hen or stag party. To play, you place an After Eight chocolate on a table in front of the players, still in its plastic sleeve. Each player must put their hands behind their backs. The mission (should they choose to accept it) is to get the chocolate out of its sleeve and into their mouth… using only their mouths!

What you need to play

Not surprisingly, the only thing you need to play is a box of After Eight chocolates per table. But you can also include:

  • A card explaining the After Eight Challenge
  • A small cup for the winner
  • A sufficient supply of napkins, just in case things get messy!
