Jakey, Prevo exchange vows in Alpena | News, Sports, Jobs

Aaron and Sara Jakey

The marriage of Sara K. Prevo and Aaron M. Jakey was sealed with a kiss, June 26, 2021, at Art in the Loft in downtown Alpena. Officiating at the wedding and signing the marriage license was the Rev. Jeff Ryan of Calvary Bible Church, Rogers City.

Originally, the wedding was planned for the Ritthaler family farm in rural Alpena County. With two months of drought conditions, all systems were a go for the outdoor ceremony with benches made out of logs and an old family barn as a backdrop.

Unfortunately, the first significant rainfall of the season was on the way that day and the venue had to be changed.

While it was an extremely tough decision for the bride, who had a lifelong dream of having the wedding there, it was absolutely the right call as rain pounded the roof of Art in the Loft about the time the couple exchanged vows.

Sara was enamored with all aspects of her wedding dress, specially fitted by Julie Robertson. She was walked down the aisle by her grandfather, Tony Laniewski.

Waiting for her was the groom, his best man Mark Jakey, along with Arden Livingston and Brandon Bertram.

On the bride’s side was maid of honor, Sonya Knarr, who made all the unique crafts throughout the room, Janie Bonds and Chelsie Keith. The flower girls Teagan and Myah, while the ring bearer was Leyland.

At the front of the room, a unique touch, as the old family barn was projected against a screen.

The wedding ceremony quickly morphed into a reception, because that’s where it was supposed to be. Country Apple Catering of Lachine providing some of the best home cooked catered food this side of the Thunder Bay River. Make that both sides.

The couple spent their honeymoon in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and have plans of buying a home in Wooden Shoe, Michigan, just east of Gladwin, in the coming months.
