Kerry bride Ísla wore a black wedding dress and looked absolutely stunning

“We had a ‘Til death do us part’ theme – not quite gothic but darker than your typical wedding! Wild Feather Event Styling did the décor and it was honestly breathtaking.”

THE HAPPY COUPLE

ísla Carabine from Co. Kerry and Odhran Molloy from Co. Waterford.

THE RECEPTION

We had our reception at Blackwater Castle in Castletownroche, Co. Cork. It’s a beautiful castle you can rent out for an entire weekend and get your own suppliers in.

We were lucky, it was the only venue we viewed – we were at a Peaky Blinders themed wedding there in 2015 and we just loved it!

THE DRESS

I knew white wasn’t for me. I did try on a few white dresses and felt really uncomfortable so I went with my gut and got black! i bought it online from DevilNightUk, and had alterations done by Satellite Dry Cleaners in Cork City.

THE PHOTOGRAPHER

David Devins was our photographer and he was brilliant!

THE HIGHLIGHTS

We had a ‘Til death do us part’ theme – not quite gothic but darker than your typical wedding! Wild Feather Event Styling did the décor and it was honestly breathtaking.

The weather was also stormy and wet, which suited the theme, and in the middle of dinner two bats appeared and flew around the room!

The food in the big barn was amazing, we had Ian Lucey Catering and it was just perfect.

THE HONEYMOON

We are keeping the big honeymoon until next year – hopefully we will go to Florida – but we did go to Galgorm Hotel and Spa near Belfast for a few days. I can’t recommend it highly enough, it’s the most beautiful resort I’ve ever been to!

FIRST GLANCE

We met while in college in UCC, technically while on a night out in the alternative nightclub Freakscene!

THE PROPOSAL

We’re actually together 12 years now so it was a huge surprise when Odhran popped the question in July 2020. I was completely oblivious all day, apparently he had tried twice during the afternoon. He eventually did it in our new back garden, I was too busy shouting at our dog to realise what was happening until I turned around and he was down on one knee. It was madness but perfect!

SOME ADVICE

Write everything down! Get yourself a nice copybook to keep track of things, I had sheets of paper all over the house! Also, enjoy the build-up and enjoy your day, that’s the most important thing because it really goes by very quickly.
