Kourtney Kardashian Reflects on Third Wedding Dress

On May 22, 2022, Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker exchanged vows for a third time in an extravagant wedding in Portofino, Italy. Although each of their celebrations was full of fashionable looks, the bride saved the best for last by wearing a mini corseted Dolce & Gabbana dress to her final celebration. Nearly a year after the couple tied the knot, the Poosh founder is reflecting on the process of designing her big-day looks with the iconic designer and is revealing her inspiration behind her ensemble. On Sunday, March 19, 2023, the reality TV star posted a carousel of throwback photos from her wedding day, plus a few snaps that captured the design process, including several sketches of her gown and veil. “One year ago, we had our first in-person meeting with @dolcegabbana to start the design process of my wedding dress!!” she begins in her caption.

The Kardashians star then explains how she conceptualized her ‘90s-inspired look . “The first inspiration for my dress was when Travis and I were watching Guns N’ Roses November Rain video one night before we were even engaged, and we said to each other ‘this has to be our wedding,’ Kardashian reveals. “She was wearing a short dress and I thought to myself ‘I need a short dress!’” The entrepreneur also says a 1993 campaign shoot shaped her idea. “I had more visions inspired by some 1990s campaigns of Monica Bellucci shot by Helmut Newton for Blumarine,” she reveals. According to Kardashian, once the duo settled on their locale in Portofino, Italy, the setting influenced the overall vibe of the gown. “I also just wanted to feel like we ran off to Italy and got married and wanted the dress and wedding to feel that way!” she exclaims in her caption.

While the bride’s dress made a big impression, her accessories stole the show. In addition to tulle gloves and lace heels, Kardashian topped off her mini gown with a cathedral-length veil embroidered with the Virgin Mary and the words “family loyalty respect” underneath as a nod to a tattoo on Barker’s head. “When @dolcegabbana suggested putting Travis’s head tattoo of the Virgin Mary on the handmade lace veil with the words from his tattoo: family, loyalty, respect underneath, I got chills and knew how special that felt,” she says. According to Vogue, the veil was also designed with lace flowers to represent the gardens of Portofino.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum concludes her post by thanking the design team. “This was all planned and made into my dream come true all so so quickly and I’m so grateful to everyone who put their all into making it all happen! ✨🫶🏼❤️,” she expresses.

A few hours later, Kardshian shared a follow-up post with more shots of the wedding dress design process and a snap of her reception attire: a black mini corseted dress, black lace gloves, black knee-high stockings, and black stilletos. “reception etc 🖤,” she writes. After the ceremony, the newlyweds’ friends and family celebrated at Castello Brown, a 16th-century castle, according to People. After changing into her second look of the night, Kardashian and the Blink-182 drummer shared a first dance to “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley, which Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli and his son Matteo performed live. The couple also served food stations full of Italian-inspired cuisine, such as pasta and cannolis.
