Lancaster Couple Got COVID, Didn’t Go To Own Wedding + Party Still Went On

What do they say? Sometimes you can’t control the situation, but you can control how you react.

What a story. I think it was such a great reminder to just go with the flow sometimes, that I asked the couple if I could share the story.

Wednesday night a Lancaster couple found out that they wouldn’t be able to attend their own wedding reception. A wedding reception they had to reschedule already a year later because of COVID. Unfortunately, COVID hit them and they couldn’t go to their own wedding.

Imagine how hard that has to be to hear.

It’s 4 days before. What are you going to do? Cancel it? The wedding venue probably isn’t giving you your money back. At least, not all of it. So, the party must go on. The wedding reception happened, just not with the bride and groom in attendance. At the head table, a big screen TV was where the couple would have been sitting, with them ‘at the wedding’ virtually. Even getting dressed up in their gown and suit to dance in the living room as the wedding went on, they made the best of it.

“I danced for hours in my living room in front of an iPad in my dress, got super sweaty and still managed to get pretty hungover”, the bride Katie Harder wrote on Facebook.

I went to high school with Katie and her husband Brian and they’re two of the nicest people, but I’ll tell you, they would have had every reason to be mad, but they made the best of it. It’s a good reminder that sometimes you just have to go with the flow and control what you can control.

Congrats, Brian and Katie!
