Linda Speaks, 79, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022, after several years of declining health.

She was born in 1942 to Mr. Quincy Whittington and Mrs. Georgia Wood Whittington from North Wilkesboro, N.C. In 1960, she graduated from Wilkes Central High School and then attended Mars Hill University. Several years after attending school she was introduced to the love of her life, Richard Speaks. This past year they had celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. Linda worked as a sales associate for Belk Department Store for 15 years.

Linda was preceded in death by not only her parents, Quincy and Georgia Whittington, but also by her beloved husband Richard Speaks last fall.

Linda was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She also loved spoiling numerous furbabies over her life time. Most recently, Annie and Pepper enjoyed her complete devotion.

She is survived by her son, Gregory and wife Melinda of Lowell, N.C.; their children, Brittany, Justin, and Gregory; their grandchildren Brody, Lola, and Landon; son, Steve and wife Debby of Mooresville, N.C.; their children, Sam and Mary; and daughter, Caryn of the home.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a service following at 7 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Stevenson officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 10, at Mountlawn Memorial Park in North Wilkesboro.
