Giovanna Robledo and Marcus Gutierrez were married on July 4, 2022 in Ravello, Italy, with about 60 of their close friends and family in attendance. The couple met as freshmen at Harvard University when they both lived in the same residence hall. Though they had been friends all year, one evening, much to Giovanna’s surprise, Marcus showed up at the door to take her to dinner at the dining hall, flowers in hand. As they say, the rest is history!
The wedding was a dream, starting with the ceremony at the Cathedral Duomo of San Pantaleone in Ravello, during which they honored traditions of the lasso, exchanging of arras, and a flower dedication to the Virgin Mary. After the ceremony, they were serenaded by Mariachis, brought in from Rome by the Robledo’s who also took a moment to serenade the newlyweds with songs sung on the piazza.
A reception with cocktails, dinner and dancing followed at Villa Cimbrone. Serving as Giovanna’s maid of honor was her sister, Ellie, and serving as Marcus’ best man was his brother, James.
The couple honeymooned on the Amalfi Coast of Italy, Naples, and Rome. They make their home with their dog, Yogi, in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Marcus is the son of Joaquin and Melinda Gutierrez of Los Alamos, and Giovanna is the daughter of Carlos and Andre Robledo of San Diego.
