Mary Gormley | Obituary | The Eagle Tribune

Boxford – Mary Leona (Rogerson) Gormley, 86, of Boxford, passed away peacefully on the morning of November 8, at Holy Family Hospital, Methuen.
She was born on Prince Edward Island, Canada, daughter of the late Leo and Madeline (MacDonald) Rogerson, Leona was one of ten children.
She met the love of her life, George, when she was only ten years old, picking strawberries on the many fields of PEI. She grew up on the family farm and hard work made her a strong, independent woman.
George and Lonnie married in 1956, enjoying 35 wonderful years together. They were blessed with four children, Mary Elaine, Elaine Marie, Nancy Jean and James George. They created their home in Billerica prior to relocating to Boxford.
George and Mary started Diversified Business Systems in 1969, a printing company in Boston and Haverhill. They worked together until George’s passing in 1991 when their daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Jeff Linehan continued the family business.
George and Nonnie shared a love of traveling and adventure from Massachusetts to PEI, Aruba and the Grand Canyon. Lonnie rode on the back of a Goldwing motorcycle, holding on to George, or in a van, RV, boat or plane, it didn’t matter to her for they were together.
Mary was born with the “gift of creativity!” She learned to sew at a young age from her mother and continued to become an accomplished seamstress. Mary could make anything from dolls clothes for Barbie, to wedding dresses, there was nothing she couldn’t do!
Her passion for working in her yard and flower gardens was beautiful to see., it brought her much joy and peace. Mary fed the birds daily and knew the origin of each.
Mary continued her passion for flowers with the magnificent floral arrangements she created for her home as well as family and friends. She made it look easy for those who admired her in the craft she quietly enjoyed.
Lonnie especially enjoyed her special time spent with her son-in-law, Jeff Linehan. They would go for drives through Newburyport and Plum Island while sharing a cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee, to talk and enjoy the scenery. It was a joy for both of them.
She was the wife of the late George Gormley, mother of the late Mary Elaine Gormley, sister of the late John Rogerson and his wife Edna, and her brothers-in-law, Ernest Gormley and Jack McKenna.
