1939 – 2022

Michael Kent Hiskey, Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and friend too many, lost his battle with COPD, Parkinson’s, Cancer, and Dementia on April 24, 2022, in Springville, UT. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones. Michael was born December 17, 1939, in Salina, Utah to Joseph Hiskey and Luva Forsyth. He was the youngest of 6 children.

Michael graduated from Wayne High School in 1958. After high school, he attended Utah State University before joining the Air Force. During his 4 years of service, he was stationed in Amarillo, Texas, and spent one year at Thule Air Base in Thule, Greenland.

While in Amarillo, he met and married Mary Ann Cochran on March 4, 1961. They recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. Together Michael and Mary Ann raised 4 children.

Michael was raised in Wayne County. He lived in Torrey, on the ranch, in the summer. In the fall the family lived in Teasdale, so that he and his siblings could attend school.

He worked for McNally, Mountain States Steel for 16 years. He started out as a shipping clerk and quickly climbed the ranks to be Supervisor. Michael was very well respected. After his time at Mountain States Steel, he went on to start Cenmco Steel in Provo, and Eldorado Steel in Nephi.

Some of Michael’s hobbies included serving as Scout Master, teaching Dale Carnegie classes, flipping houses, farming, and buying mining claims – which turned out to be very profitable for him.

Michael was very generous, and was always helping those in need. Throughout his life, he donated hundreds of bikes to “Helping Hands.”

Michael is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; his children John Hiskey, Brad, and Tammy Hiskey, Melissa and Andy Wiley, and Cheryl DeStJeor. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, Erica and Bob Finigan, Austin and Lizzy Kinsey, Chance and Patrice Hiskey, Meagan and Dallan Johnson, Rorry and Kelsi Hiskey, Rachelle Hiskey, Heather and Brady Loveless, Tyler and Kaylee Kinsey, Russell Hiskey, Savannah, and Jake Hansen; 10 great-grandchildren Jayde, Jordan, Taylor, and Kirk Hiskey, Gia and Hayes Hiskey, OakLee Loveless, Kaysen Kinsey, Robert, and Hattie Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Luva Hiskey; his siblings Austin Hiskey, Boyd Hiskey, RenaBell Davis, Harold Hiskey, and Joan Jensen; and his youngest son, Thomas Michael Hiskey, whom he has missed for a long time.

Graveside services will be held at the Payson City Cemetery on Friday, April 29 at 11:00 am. Interment will be in the Payson City Cemetery under the care of Walker Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, please plant a tree in honor of Michael. This is something Michael and Mary Ann loved to do.
