Missing wedding guests are found dead in Stanislaus River

Two women who disappeared after attending a wedding at a country club near Stockton have been found dead in a vehicle in the Stanislaus River, police said.

Alyssa Ros, left, and Xylona Gama.

Alyssa Ros, 23, and Xylona Gama, 22, had left the event together around 9:30 p.m. Sunday in a silver 2000 Infiniti Q50. They never arrived home.

On Tuesday, an employee of the wedding venue — the Spring Creek Golf and Country Club in Ripon — notified police of a car in the river at the edge of the golf course. When the vehicle was pulled out, the  bodies were found inside.

The cause of the deaths is under investigation, police said.

There are no paved roads along that stretch of the river, only golf cart paths and dirt roads for access to agricultural land.

Gama lived in Stockton, and Ros was a former Stockton resident who had moved to Long Beach.
