NCIS LA star addresses delay in Callen and Anna’s wedding: ‘Very difficult’ | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

NCIS LA ended on a happy note for Callen (played by Chris O’Donnell) and Anna Kolchek (Bar Paly) after the two finally became engaged, however, there seems to be a major delay to their wedding. Actress Daniela Ruah opened up on why the couple were facing complications with their upcoming nuptials.

Callen and Anna’s wedding has been a long time coming since they first met and eventually began dating in season seven.

Their romance has been far from smooth sailing after their faced difficulties with their jobs, but matters got worse after Anna was investigated for killing a Russian criminal.

After she was sentenced to nine years in jail, the couple eventually reunited after Anna escaped to save Callen’s dad and relocated to Cuba.

However, after Anna was kidnapped in Moscow she was able to find freedom with the help of the NCIS and then returned to Los Angeles.

Callen had been ready to propose to her as he had been holding on to the ring for a while,

He eventually got down on one knee and proposed to Anna on the beach in front of their friends during the season 13 finale.

Viewers were overjoyed to see the couple take the next step in their relationship and looked forward to seeing their wedding.

Since NCIS returned in October, the celebrations are yet to be had as Callen continues to put off discussions about the wedding.

Daniela Ruah who stars as Kensi Blye opened up about the couple’s relationship and shared developments in their wedding planning.

She explained: “So, Anna keeps trying to set a date for their wedding, and Callen seems to be avoiding it at all costs.

“At first, as an audience, we’re with her, like, ‘What’s going on?’ And then he finally reveals what the real issue is, which is Hetty’s (Linda Hunt) is not there and he’s still very attached to her.

“Callen is a skilled, intelligent, independent agent who’s gone rogue multiple times, but there’s just something about Hetty that keeps that umbilical cord tied.”

Despite the show’s return, Hetty remained missing from action, in season 13 she had only made sporadic appearances.

However, after the premiere fears for Hetty’s well-being grew after the team learned a body had been discovered with Hetty’s ID.

Thankfully for fans, it was revealed Hetty had faked her death, as the ID was attached to a body of a child.

Showrunner R Scott Gemmil confirmed this was the foundation of Hetty’s return and said: “Hetty has been an integral force within the agency and an especially important part of Callen’s past.

“As Callen starts thinking about his upcoming wedding to Anna, he would want Hetty present.

“The plan is to go and rescue her at some point and find out what she’s gotten herself into in Syria, but we’re just trying to figure out when we can pull it off.

“The goal is to make it happen this season,” he confirmed to Variety.

NCIS LA continues Sundays on CBS in the US. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
