Newlywed Rita Ora Wears A Vintage Yves Saint Laurent Wedding Dress In Her New Music Video

Vintage fashion is having a major moment – both on and off the red carpet – especially the rarest runway pieces. Whether it’s Kim Kardashian’s contentious Met Gala moment in Marilyn Monroe’s “Happy Birthday Mr President” gown, or Rihanna announcing her pregnancy in a Karl Lagerfeld-designed Chanel jacket from the autumn/winter 1996 collection, the A-listers are currently all about trophy archive. The most recent star to develop a taste for rare vintage? Rita Ora, who can be seen wearing a 1987 wedding gown by Yves Saint Laurent in her new video.

In the video for the track “You Only Love Me”, the British pop singer plays a bride-to-be who’s seemingly anxious about getting married. (Notably, the video also includes cameos from some of the star’s closest and most famous friends, including Sharon Stone, Jodie Turner-Smith, Kristen Stewart and Lindsay Lohan – who send their best regards for her big day.) After finishing up her glam, Ora puts on her wedding dress – an ultra-rare ivory Yves Saint Laurent autumn/winter 1987 Rive Gauche number that features a dramatic tulle veil and sleeves (all of which are attached to the dress), which was sourced from the extensive archives of vintage dealer Cherie Balch, of Shrimpton Couture.

It comes after another high-profile vintage-lover, Miley Cyrus, chose to wear vintage YSL in a video – in her case a hooded cut-out gown from Yves Saint Laurent’s autumn/winter 1991/92 collection, imagined in metallic lamé, which she wears in the promo clip for her latest single, “Flowers”.
