Nicole & Matt’s Halloween Wedding

This real wedding has a seasonal feel to it, but we think the styling in Nicole and Matt‘s Halloween wedding would be gorgeous at any time of year! The Belfast couple embraced the season of spooks with their dark and moody celebration. Saying their ‘I dos’ in St Peter’s Chapel, the newlyweds then went on to raise a glass in the Empire Music Hall. The couple’s wedding was full of personality and the perfect mix of hauntingly beautiful details and vintage romance. Thankfully, Chris Copeland was on hand to capture the day and below are the beautiful results!

Nicole and Matt met back in 2013 on New Year’s Eve in the bar formerly known as McCrackens, but that wasn’t the plan. Nicole was meant to be on a Tinder date, but – luckily for Matt! – her date stood her up. Matt was performing outside in the beer garden that night, and Nicole was immediately taken with the singer. “We got talking and while we didn’t kiss when the clock struck 12, Matt did wink at Nicole and wish her a Happy New Year!” Sliding into her DMs the next day, the couple have been inseparable ever since.

Speaking of their engagement, Nicole said that there was a last-minute change of plan. “We went for a lovely dinner and the drink was flowing. Finally, we got to dessert and next thing, there are sparklers, so I thought it was someone’s birthday. It wasn’t until I saw Matt down on one knee that I realised what was going on. I was crying and laughing and eventually, said yes.”

When it came to the wedding planning, this couple wasn’t sticking to tradition for the sake of it. The pair had a very set idea about how they wanted the day to feel and it was all about having fun with friends and family.

“The most important thing to us was having our nearest and dearest attend our day, especially our parents and grandparents,” Nicole said of their plans. “We’re very lucky to have them. We wanted to make sure the day was about us and our families and that’s what made it so perfect.”

The wedding party’s outfits were a mix of boutique and high street. Nicole’s skirt and bustier were from Halfpenny London from The White Gallery. Matt and his groomsmen’s suits were purchased from high street giant, Next, while the bridesmaids’ looks were from ASOS.

When booking their reception venue, the decision was easily made. “The Empire Music Hall is the only venue we viewed,” Nicole revealed. “We just knew it was going to be the one. It combined our love for music in a vintage and quirky setting.”

This magically moody wedding was all about the details, which didn’t go unnoticed by the guests. “The music on arrival to The Empire was a hit – we received so many compliments about Dea Matrona. The decor and flowers really made everything personal. We had skulls, feathers, and black and red roses – it just made everything very us. We didn’t have a cake in the end and instead decided to put that money into the bar for our party.”

It will come as no surprise that Nicole and Matt’s advice to other couples is to stay true to themselves. “Make the day about the both of you,” they say. “Listen to nobody – literally nobody! Invite whoever you want because it’s going to be one of the best days of your lives so enjoy every minute of it.”

Thanks to our couple Nicole and Matt for sharing their sensationally spooky Halloween wedding day with One Fab Day – it really was overflowing with personality and the perfect celebration of them as a couple.
