Obituary for Sherril Beth Lowman

Obituary

Sherril Beth (Bryant) Lowman, our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died on September 11, 2022, at her home in Granger, IN. She was surrounded by family and friends expressing their love, providing words of comfort, and singing hymns of praise as she passed on to Glory and her eternal reward. She will be deeply missed by her family and the numerous people that she knew as friends, who were fortunate to have known and cared for her throughout her life.

Ronald and Lorine Emberton welcomed their baby daughter, Sherril Beth, into this world on August 11, 1938… born in the back room of their rural home on the family farm just outside of Hamburg, IA to join her older brother Loren (Dale). Sherril grew to become a wonderful Christian woman, being buried with Christ in baptism at the age of eight and never hesitating to share her love of the Savior and her strong faith with others. She often recounted fond memories of her childhood being raised on the family farm, enjoying countless hours of hunting, fishing, trapping and outdoor adventures with her brother Dale. Amongst her many childhood interests were playing sports with her brother and her many friends, becoming an accomplished pianist, and caring for her horses. Her love of the LORD, family, music, horses, and the outdoors would never cease during her life.

On the 19th of October 1958, Rex Dean Bryant and Sherril Beth Emberton exchanged their wedding vows at the Church of Christ in Hamburg, IA. To this union was born five children, Ronald Thomas, Cynthia Lynn, Lori Lee, Jeffrey Dean, and Douglas Alan. Sherril’s motivation in life was a love for her family and the LORD, of which she always relied upon to meet the many challenges she overcame. Despite an early married life with limited financial blessings, our mother, along with our father, provided an idyllic childhood to their family and wealth that could not be measured; a love of Christ in the heart of all their children… I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth… 3 John 1:4. During her many years of service at the Church of Christ, she cultivated numerous lifelong friendships of which she cherished. None were greater than her brother and sister in friendship and in Christ, Don & Harriet Lincoln, whom she met in 1967 with the promise of a good meal and fellowship after church. Together, their families shared many years of vacations, holidays, and wonderful times over the next 55 years.

After the death of her husband Rex in 1985, Sherril and her youngest son Doug moved to Indiana during the summer of 1989. There she worked for Pacula & Gough Jewelry Co., eventually rising to management at the time of her retirement. In 1994, she met local Electrician, Rick Lowman… sparks flew… and some of her famous chocolate chip cookies sealed the deal. Through Sherril’s influence, Rick gave his life to Christ, and they were united in marriage on April 13th, 1996. They enjoyed many years of traveling together, spending time with family, participated as members of Elkhart East Christian Church, and caring for their very well-loved dog, Sophie. Rick preceded her in death, eight years to the day, on September 11th, 2014.

Sherril is survived by her five children, Ron (Jen) Bryant of LeMars, IA, Cindy (Steve) Carlock of South Bend, IN, Lori (Lyman) Lalk of Council Bluffs, IA, Jeff (Loretta) Bryant of Lenexa, KS, and Doug (Laure) Bryant of North Liberty, IN and stepchildren Lori (Roger) Heise of Mishawaka, IN, Linda Lowman of Zionsville, IN and Doug (Kristie) Lowman of New Carlisle, IN. She was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren at the time of her passing, whom she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her loving parents Ronald and Lorine, her brother Dale, and husbands Rex Bryant and Rick Lowman.

Visitation services are scheduled for Friday, September 16, 2022 from 4:00p to 7:00p at Palmer Funeral Home (Hickey Chapel) at 17131 Cleveland Road in South Bend, IN and Friday September 23rd from 4:00p to 7:00p at Rash-Gude Funeral Home at 1220 Main St in Hamburg Iowa. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 24th at 11:00a at the United Trinity Church at 1106 Jefferson St., Hamburg, IA with lifelong friend and minister Victor Knowles officiating. Sherril will be laid to rest beside the father of her children at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Hamburg, IA.
