Photographer deletes couple’s wedding pics after being denied food, social media argues

A photographer deleted wedding photos after she was denied a break “to get something to eat and drink” — and it’s sparking conversation on social media. According to Newsweek, the unnamed photographer posted about her experience on Reddit’s “Am I The Asshole” forum. She said that she had been working for six hours straight — as a favor to the groom and bride — for a flat rate of $250, which the couple said “is nothing for a 10-hour event.”

“I’m not really a photographer, I’m a dog groomer,” the photographer said. “I take lots of photos of dogs all day to put on my Facebook and Instagram, it’s ‘my thing’ if that makes sense.”

After snapping photos throughout the ceremony and reception, the woman was looking forward to eating dinner and taking a break. However, the bride and groom denied her request. “I was told I cannot stop to eat because I need to be a photographer. In fact, they didn’t save me a spot at any table,” she said. The groom also told the photographer that she could not leave to get food. After reaching her tipping point, the woman deleted all of the wedding photos that she took that day.

People on social media are now talking about the incident and many people are taking the photographer’s side. Twitter user @uwnayna tweeted, “I don’t know what it is about this platform that produces the most asinine debates. Why would you be against your photographer and/or videographer eating at your wedding?”

“Y’all can starve your wedding photographer if you want,” wrote @nottramar. “When those pictures come out blurry bc the photog’s sugar was low, don’t complain.”

“You should expect to feed all of your vendors including but not limited to: DJ, photographer, wedding planner/coordinator and all subsequent coordination staff, hairstylist, MUA. Literally all vendors. As you’re planning, keep a running list of them in addition to your RSVPs,” tweeted @__BHB__.

Wedding photographers make $2000+ each wedding. He was a friend doing them a favor for $250 & they denied him food or a lunch break after working 8 hours.. I would’ve knocked their cake over on my exit https://t.co/MKrNyvXIEF
