Judi James says Meghan has mirrored Diana’s ‘enigmatic smile’ from Panorama interview in Oprah sit down

The Duke of Cambridge was “reeling” with Meghan Markle over the comments she made about Kate in her Oprah Winfrey interview, it has been claimed.

Prince William’s “head was all over the place” after his sister-in-law accused Kate of making her cry over the now infamous bridesmaid dress fitting ahead of the Sussexes’ 2018 royal wedding.

Initial reports suggested Kate, who had just given birth to Prince Louis, was “left sobbing” amid the tense argument as demands were made over the flower girl dresses.

Princess Charlotte was part of the bridal party, along with Meghan’s goddaughters Rylan and Remi Litt, best friend Jessica Mulroney’s daughter Ivy and Prince Harry’s goddaughters Zalie Warren and Florence van Cutsem.

In November 2018, insiders claimed a “stressful” dress fitting took place in the run up to the royal wedding – with the pressure of Meghan’s “demands” getting too much for Kate.

Insiders claimed the Duchess of Cambridge fell out with the Duchess of Sussex because Princess Charlotte’s dress did not fit and further fittings needed to be scheduled.

The source added: “Kate had only just given birth to her third child, Prince Louis, and was feeling quite emotional.”

However, during her interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan said “the reverse happened” and she was left crying a few days before her nuptials to Prince Harry.

She said: “A few days before the wedding, she was upset about something pertaining – yes, the issue was correct – about flower girl dresses, and it made me cry, and it really hurt my feelings.

Meghan was shocked that what she believes was the “reverse” of what happened went public, leaving her being blamed for a situation that she wasn’t responsible for and happened to her.

“Everyone in the institution knew it wasn’t true. I am not sharing that piece about Kate to be in any way disparaging about her. I would hope that she would want that to be corrected,” added Meghan.

When Oprah tried to get more information, Meghan stated it would not be fair to go into further details as Kate had apologised.

But she did make it clear the incident was a major “turning point”.

She said she’s forgiven Kate, calling her a “good person”.

She told Oprah that Kate did attempt to build bridges and sent a peace offering to try and smooth things over.

Meghan explained: “And she brought me flowers and a note, apologising. And she did what I would do if I knew that I hurt someone, right, to just take accountability for it.’

However, it has previously been reported that Kate’s bid to heal the tension by sending flowers had failed.

Royal editor Roya Nikkhah claims that William and Kate had very different reactions to Meghan’s claims.

She writes: “William was ‘reeling’ with his ‘head all over the place’, furious that his brother and sister-in-law had taken aim at his wife and his family.”

But despite hitting back, Kate decided to focus solely on supporting her husband.

A source told the Sunday Times Magazine : “In the days after the interview her priority was William, not how she felt about what Harry and Meghan had done.

She has focused on personal support for William in what has been a really sad time in his life. She never predicted the degree of falling out between them.”
