Richie & Hafidzee’s Dublin Wedding

When we say that real wedding put a huge smile on our faces, we’re not even slightly exaggerating! We love everything about Richie and Hafidzee‘s big day – the multicultural ceremony, the fun-filled portraits by The Portrait Room, and the fact that the couple made the most of their crisp, winter wedding day with a horse and carriage ride around Dublin (with pints, of course!). Their House Dublin wedding is such a gem, and the gorgeous imagery provides all the proof you need that adding personality to your big day pays dividends!

Richie, from Dublin, and Hafidzee, from Malaysia, tell us that they first met in Poland. “We met in Krakow, where both of us happened to work in the same city at the same time.”

Years later, Richie popped the question via video chat! “I was in Dublin while Hafiz was in Krakow,” he says.

How cute are these gingerbread men!? This is such a gorgeous (and delicious) festive touch for a winter wedding!

Richie and Hafidzee had some very simple requirements for their big day. “We wanted everybody to be happy, and to be surrounded by friends and family,” they tell us.

This couple chose to write their own wedding ceremony, and it sounds like the results were just fabulous! “We designed our own ceremony, blending our cultural traditions, so we had a traditional tea serving to the parents, we had our closest friends choose readings, and tied a love knot as an ancient Irish tradition to finish.”

It sounds like House Dublin was the perfect venue for this pair. Hafidzee explains, “Richie used to be the restaurant manager for House when it opened in 2013. He knew every staff member or manager on a personal basis so literally everyone attending was a friend.” How lovely!

The couple had a horse-drawn carriage take them around Georgian Dublin before getting more photographs taken in St. Stephen’s Green – how incredible are these portraits!?

The couple tell us that their House Dublin wedding had a really relaxed atmosphere. “The vibe was a boozy brunch on the most stunning winter’s day,” Hafidzee tells us. “We had the whole venue exclusively for the day and night, with hot buttered rum on arrival before the ceremony. We had a gold and purple colour scheme, and a lamb BBQed on a spit in the garden of House.”

We love how the couple coordinated their wedding looks! The wedding party’s purple baju melayu, sampins and selempangs were echoed via purple ties worn by Richie and his groomsmen.

Richie and Hafidzee’s top piece of advice to engaged couples is to, “allow plenty of time to plan. We planned ours with only three months to go!” Wow, we’re impressed!

For their honeymoon, the couple went to Tallinn, Estonia. They tell us, “We would really recommend it. Tallinn is a special place filled with interesting people, good food, and live music.”

Thanks so much to Richie and Hafidzee for sharing their gorgeous House Dublin wedding with us, and to The Portrait Room for providing the beautiful imagery! There are lots more photographs in the gallery below.
