Scottish Wedding Awards win is blooming marvellous for Kilwinning florist Nicola

A KILWINNING florist has admitted she’s “completely gobsmacked” after being named among the winners at the Scottish Wedding Awards.

Floral Derangement was named as ‘florist of the year’ for the south-west region at the ceremony in Glasgow last week.

The firm was one of three North Ayrshire winners named at the glittering bash at the city’s Marriott Hotel, with Irvine-based CGM Films winning the Videographer of the Year category, and the Roebank Hotel and Wedding Venue in Beith announced as the wedding venue of the year for the south-west of Scotland.

Nicola Frearson, owner of Floral Derangement, said: “I am over the moon and completely gobsmacked to have won South West Florist of the Year!

“Thank you so so much to all of my couples that voted for me! As you all know I take so much pride in the flowers I handcraft just for you and absolutely adore knowing every little detail about your wedding day, it makes my day to see your amazing day and flowers and honestly I am still a little shocked.

“You absolute rockstars, I love you all.”

Hayley Mckie, of CGM Films, said the award for her small family business was “a huge accomplishment” that she and partner Craig have worked “so hard to achieve despite the hard times with Covid”.

A spokesperson for the Roebank said: “We are overwhelmed to have won this amazing award.

“It was such a strong category with other beautiful venues so it’s such an honour to have been recognised and awarded the 2022 winner.

“Thank you very much for everyone’s support with the voting and [to] the whole team here.”

Five other Ayrshire businesses – based in Irvine, Troon, Darvel, Ayr and Kilmarnock – were among the finalists in the south-west florist of the year category, while the Roebank’s rivals in the running for the south-west’s top venue prize included three Ayrshire hospitality firms, based in New Cumnock, Sorn and Fenwick.

More than 500 wedding specialists gathered for the event on February 23.

A spokesperson for the awards’ organisers said: “The awards showcase some of the best wedding specialists that operate in the industry.

“We would like to congratulate all finalists and winners for their amazing achievements.”
