Siblings create 137 metre bouquet for parents in Bengaluru | Bengaluru News

BENGALURU: Roshan Samuel and Angelina Sky wanted to make their parents’ 25th wedding anniversary extra special and make it to the Guinness World Records. The siblings are yet to officially receive the honour but they managed to leave their parents spellbound with a 136.7-metre-long bouquet made of hundreds of flowers.
Prem Kumar and Ceceliya Prem from Victoria Layout, near Richmond Road, celebrated their 25th anniversary on Sunday at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Ulsoor. In honour of their parents’ silver jubilee, Roshan and Angelina stunned the couple by lining up the mega bouquet in front of the church.
“This was a special occasion for my parents and we decided to give them the world’s largest bouquet,” said Roshan, an MBA student and part-time model who began planning for the big day last April.
The siblings decided they should create a record with the big bouquet and wrote to Guinness World Records on their aim. They finally received approval by November and began work towards assembling the flowers, including roses, gypsophila and gerbera, with the help of Thiruvikram, a floriculturist from Hosur, Tamil Nadu. “Days of hard work finally blossomed on Sunday with all of us putting together the bouquet in the front yard of the church. We started with the first flower at 11pm on Saturday and finished at 8.30am on Sunday.,” said Roshan.
Ceceliya said she was overwhelmed by her kids’ gesture. “We knew they were planning something with the bouquet but the final result brought immense joy…,” she said.
The family said the 136.7-metre bouquet is the world’s largest one, surpassing the previous Guinness World Record of 60m set in Canada a few years ago. On Saturday, they will send photos and videos of the making of the bouquet to Guinness in the hope of creating a record.
