Well 2022 has certainly been quite the year for stunning celebrity weddings both Irish and international! Some of our favourite long-term couples finally made it down the aisle and didn’t disappoint in the styles stakes. There were also some whirlwind nuptials that took us quite by surprise. Either way, there’s nothing like a celebrity wedding for inspiration and insider gossip. So without further ado, here’s a look at some of the most memorable celebrity weddings of 2022!
1. Stacy Solomon & Joe Swash
After six years of dating, beloved TV stars Solomon and Joe Swash finally tied the knot in their charming home, known affectionately as Pickle Cottage in one of the sweetest celebrity weddings of 2022. They first met in 2016 and became engaged three years later, and fast-forward to 2022 and DIY craft queen Stacey knocked it out of the park with her sustainable wedding ideas, and even asked media to make a charity donation to use her wedding photos (which we happily did!). Stacey’s dress came from one of our very own suppliers, Verona Bridal – a sparkling champagne tulle number from Berta’s Caesarea collection. Not only that but she used extra material to make a flower girl dress for her daughter Rose. 2. Sarah Hyland & Wells Adams
It all started with a simple Instagram DM! Wells Adams first came to the attention of Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland when he appeared on the US version of the Bachelorette in 2016. Although he didn’t win the show, his appearance brought him a legion of fans, one of which was Sarah. After a few flirty Twitter exchanges, Wells eventually slipped into Sarah’s DMs. In July 2019, Adams asked Hyland to marry him. After postponing their wedding twice due to the pandemic, the pair finally tied the knot in August. The couple were married in an outdoor ceremony in California surrounded by her co-stars Sofia Vergara, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (who actually served as celebrant).
3. Jennifer Lopez & Ben Affleck
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck became a couple in 2002 after meeting on the set of their movie Gigli. The media instantly dubbed them ‘Bennifer’ and though the couple got engaged that same year, they ultimately split in 2004. However, this wasn’t the end of their story. Jennifer went on to marry Marc Anthony, with whom she had two children. Ben wed actress Jennifer Garner and the pair have three children together. When both found themselves single last year, to the surprise of fans around the world, they decided to reunite. This is one celebrity wedding we certainly didn’t see coming in 2022. The couple tied in the knot in August in a Vegas ceremony surrounded by their children, and a month later they held a second wedding celebration in Georgia. Lopez wore three stunning white Ralph Lauren gowns – one with over 1,ooo handkerchiefs to create the train.
4. Kourtney Kardashian & Travis Barker
Known fondly as Kravis by fans, Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker are living a modern-day pop culture fairytale. The pair initially became friends when they lived in the same neighbourhood, and when they made their debut as a couple in 2021, people were shocked. Cue lots of over-the-top PDAs and the duo got engaged in October, 2021, when Barker got down on one knee on the beach in Santa Barbara, California. They became legally married on March 15th at a courthouse in California. A week later Kourtney and Travis exchanged vows again, but this time in front of their friends and famous family on May 22 in Portofino, Italy in an epic Dolce & Gabbana designed affair. The bride wore an Alta Moda mini dress that was teamed with a dramatic, wide, long, hand-embroidered veil, showing a very different style side than her sister Kim!
5. Chloe Sevigny & Siniša Mačković
Actress and fashionista Chloe Sevigny began dating New York art gallery director, Siniša Mačković in 2018. The couple welcomed their first child together in January 2020. Two months later they officially became man and wife in a secret ceremony held at a New York City courthouse. This year they held a second not-so-secret wedding in front of family and friends. Chloe walked down the aisle in a floor-length, off-white haute couture wedding gown, designed by Glenn Martens for Jean Paul Gaultier, just one of three different looks on the day. Meanwhile, the handsome groom looked dapper in a black Bottega Venetta tuxedo by Mattieu Blazy.
6. Brooklyn Beckham & Nicola Peltz
It might be hard to believe that Victoria and David Beckham’s firstborn son is now married. In October 2019, he began dating American actress Nicola Peltz, daughter of billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz and model Claudia Heffner. After less than a year of dating, Nicola and Brooklyn became engaged in July 2020. They tied the knot in one of the most lavish celebrity weddings of the year on April 9th at her father’s $103 million estate in Palm Beach. Nicola wore a breathtaking custom-made Valentino gown with opera gloves. There were 500 guests in attendance including famous faces such as Victoria’s fellow Spice Girl, Mel C, along with Eva Longoria and Serena and Venus Williams.
7. Lynn Kelly & Robert Parr
Model and former Miss Universe Ireland Lynn Kelly married her long-term boyfriend Robert Barr in a stunning wedding ceremony in Sicily, Italy. Lynn and Robert became engaged while on holiday in Santorini, Greece in 2020 to celebrate their 15-year anniversary. The 32-year-old previously admitted that while Rob prefers to stay out of the spotlight, the couple have been dating since they were teens. The bride wore a detailed lace creation with a deep plunging neckline. Lynn finished off her bridal look with a slicked-back hairstyle and a bouquet of cascading white orchids. Incredible!
8. Josh Van Der Flier & Sophie De Patoul
When it comes to celebrity weddings, our Irish stars certainly know how to hold their own. Wicklow native Josh, who plays rugby for Leinster and Ireland, proposed to girlfriend Sophie De Patoul after two and a half years of dating. The couple got married at the luxurious Luttrellstown Castle, Co. Dublin. The bride looked beautiful in a floor-length white gown with mesh and floral applique off-the-shoulder sleeves. She added a cathedral veil with complementary floral applique detail and pearl drop earrings that looked incredible with her timeless up-do.
9. Peter O’Mahony & Jessica Maloney
Munster rugby star Peter O’Mahony and Jessica Maloney have been a couple for over 10 years and have three children together. They tied the knot for the second time this year, after restrictions limited their first ceremony. This time they pulled out all the stops and held a big celebration abroad. The couple invited their friends and family to join them in Aix-en-Provence in the south of France. The bride looked stunning in a sleek white gown by Alexandra Grecco, with she paired with a long veil over her perfectly blow dried hair. Peter looked dashing in a navy jacket and a white unbuttoned shirt leaning into the destination wedding style vibes.
10. Kelly Brook & Jeremy Parisi
Model-turned-presenter Kelly Brook married her longtime model boyfriend Jeremy in his native Italy in July. The extravagant ceremony is believed to have cost the couple around £500,000. The town of Civitavecchia-known for its ancient architecture set the scene for their special day. Kelly’s dress was perfectly in keeping with the picturesque setting – a vintage-inspired number from Sienna Miller’s designer sister Savannah. It was made from Italian crepe and featured a scooped neckline offset by the plunging basque waistline, while the sleeves and neckline were made from delicate lace. The couple met in 2014 when Kelly slid into Jeremy’s DMs after spotting him in a video.
11. Binky Felstead & Max Fredrik Darnton
Binky and Max were yet another celebrity couple to tie the knot for the second time. The lifting of restrictions has prompted several newlyweds to say “I do” again this year in a bigger ceremony. Around 100 family members and friends, including Binky’s former Made in Chelsea co-stars Ollie Locke and his husband Gareth, Millie Mackintosh, Hugo Taylor and Rosie Fortescue, descend on the idyllic Greek isle of Corfu. Binky wore a corseted gown by Israeli designer Liz Martinez, styled by P.S. Bridal. The couple met at country hot spot Soho Farmhouse, and they’ve been dating since January 2019. Together they have a son named Wolfie, and Max is also a devoted stepdad to Binky’s daughter India, from her previous relationship with MIC co-star JP Patterson.
12. Dearbhla Toal & Harry Silke
Irish influencer Dearbhla aka Belle Azzure finally got to marry her longtime love Harry Silke this year. The couple had to postpone their nuptuals several times due to the pandemic, but it was worth the wait. They said “I do” in front of family and friends at a ceremony hosted at Dún Lúiche in Co. Donegal before heading to Lough Eske Castle for a celebratory party. Belle wowed in a shimmering lace gown complete with an impressive over-skirt. Serving as bridesmaid for the big day was fellow-influencer and best friend Louise Cooney.
13. Bonnie Ryan & John Greenhalgh
Another Irish influencer who married their longtime partner was Bonnie Ryan. The makeup artist and daughter of the late Gerry Ryan tied the knot in a stunning Italian wedding celebration. Surrounded by family and friends, Bonnie and John got married in a church in the village of La Machi, where sister Lottie Ryan also exchanged vows back in 2017. The bride stunned in an embroidered fishtail style gown with romantically puffed sleeves and a long veil from Bridal by Tamem Michael. Bonnie gave her followers a glimpse of her stunning gown, posing alongside her husband John who was sitting on a cream Vespa, creatively, and hilariously, shielded by her bouquet to protect his privacy!
