Tinubu, Shettima, Lawan, others in Gombe for Yahaya’s son wedding | The Guardian Nigeria News

Leaders of All Progressives Congress (APC) from the North-East used weekend’s wedding of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’ son, Misbahu, with his heartthrob, Ameera, to sink their differences after the party’s presidential primary.

It was the first time eminent members of the North-East caucus of the party could come together against the backdrop of the presidential primary and misgivings that trailed the selection of the party’s presidential running mate.

Gombe State was agog as the Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, led President Muhammadu Buhari’s delegation to the social event, which had the presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima; eight state governors and National Assembly members, led by Senate President Ahmad Lawan and cabinet ministers, thronged the city.

Although the event was the official holy wedlock between Misbahu Inuwa Yahaya and Amina (Ameera) Babayo, the APC bigwigs used the occasion to smoothen grey areas in the party’s effort to set up a presidential campaign council.

In a statement, the Director of Press Affairs, Ismaila Uba Misilli, said that while the politicians had a special time, the traditional governance institutions carried on with the business of the day.

Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; his Progressives Governors’ Forum counterpart, Senator Atiku Bagudu; Governors of the North-East States, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa); Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum (Borno), Abdulkadir Bala Mohammed (Bauchi) and Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), as well as Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, were also in attendance.

Other dignitaries at the event included former Governor of Gombe State and Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje, among others. In his remarks during a reception in honour of the guests at the Banquet Hall of the Gombe Government House, Yahaya commended the outpouring of love from the guests, saying that the occasion was a special event that gave him the opportunity to witness his son’s move into a new phase of life.

His Royal Highness, the Emir of Gombe, Dr. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, served as the groom’s representative (Wakil), just as Alhaji Kawu Adamu, Dan Malikin Gombe, served as the bride’s guardian (Waliy).

The Bride’s Waliyy, Alhaji Kawu Adamu, gave out Ameera’s hand in marriage to Misbahu Inuwa Yahaya through his Wakil, the Emir of Gombe, who was represented by the Senior District Head of Gombe, Alhaji AbdulKadir Abubakar Umar, following the wedding rituals and pronouncement of N1,000.00 as dowry. The Wedding Fatiha was conducted at the Gombe Central Mosque.
