Wedding fashion show raising money for Children’s Hospital Colorado

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) — One local bridal shop is using its platform to raise money for Children’s Colorado.

It’s a cause near and dear to the owners of Something New boutique. Five years ago, their son Brody was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 3.

“It was a really big surprise for us when that happened, but we were only able to be treated locally at a Children’s Hospital in Denver. We fell in love with the team and the doctors and staff and everything who took care of us, so we are so happy that they decided to put another location in Colorado Springs because Denver is a lot of a distance to travel for families in Southern Colorado,” said Mindi Linscombe, the owner of Something New.

Brody is now nine-years-old and cancer free.

“We’re so excited we’re on the other side of that journey,” said Linscombe.

As a business owner in the Springs, Mindi says her family is glad to give back to a place that helped them through so much.

“I just feel like when you have a business and you are able to bless other people with your profitability it’s just a win-win situation,” said Linscombe.

To help raise money, Something New is hosting a wedding inspiration and fashion show at the Broadmoor.

The featured bridal gown line, Brooklyn Grace, is curated by Linscombe, and proceeds from the dresses will go to Children’s Hospital Colorado.

“After my one and only daughter. I have three boys and then I had a girl, so my daughter is really special to me and when I think of a wedding dress I just want a girl to feel unique and important,” said Linscombe.

Friday’s event kicks off at 6 p.m. with the fashion show starting at 8 p.m. To buy tickets or find you more you can visit this website.
