Wedding of the week: Perth bride and groom begin their ‘life sentence’ in Fremantle Prison ceremony

Daniel Bamford, 33 and Melissah Clark, 40

Perth couple Daniel Bamford and Melissah Clark took the common jibe about marriage being like a life sentence quite literally when they decided to hold their nuptials at Fremantle Prison.

Their definition of a life sentence, however, is one of love and being partners in crime.

Like most modern day love stories, their romance began after swiping right and meeting just three days later.

After many adventures together, Dan popped the question to Melissah in August 2021, shortly after they had relocated to Tom Price.

When and Where

With Fremantle being home away from home for Dan and Melissah, they landed on the Fremantle Prison grounds as the venue for their special day. They exchanged vows, promising to be partners in crime for life in the Anglican Chapel of the prison on Sunday, May 22.

Dress

After coming across a bridal photo with a dress she liked, Melissah contacted the bride and, as luck would have it, the previous owner was selling her gown.

As a cheeky nod to their unusual choice of wedding venue, Dan and Melissah also wore convict socks on their special day.

Honeymoon

The newlyweds enjoyed a relaxed week of travelling through the gorgeous towns of the Avon Valley and stayed in Toodyay before making their way back home to the Pilbara.
