Wedding shoot: Video shows couple firing | Noida News

Ghaziabad: A video clip of a couple holding a gun and firing in the air at their wedding in the Kotwali area of Ghaziabad went viral on social media on Sunday evening, police said on Monday. However, police are yet to ascertain the identity of the couple. The video clip doesn’t show anyone getting injured.
The matter is under investigation, according to police.
“We got to know about the video through social media and initiated an investigation. The wedding took place in the Kotwali area of the district last week. We will register a case and take action accordingly, ” a senior police officer said.
In a bid to curb the risks posed by celebratory firing, the Centre had amended The Arms Act in December 2019 and made it a criminal offence attracting two years’ imprisonment and fines.
Celebratory firing at public gatherings, religious places, marriages or other functions is a criminal offence even with licensed guns and even if no one is injured, according to police.
“We have seen innocent people, including brides and grooms, getting injured or killed in celebratory firing in the recent past. Despite spreading awareness, such incidents keep happening in Uttar Pradesh. We will take strict action against people violating the rules,” the officer added.
