Bride disappears on eve of wedding in Cagayan, police launch hunt

ALCALA, Cagayan — Last Monday (Oct. 17) was supposed to be a big day for an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who was scheduled to marry his bride in a civil ceremony here.

But the wedding just would not push through as the bride was missing.

Alcala police chief Major George Marigbay said that the groom (name withheld for personal reason), Alias Anna (sister of the bride) and alias Marlo (father of the bride) went to the police station to report the bride named Krizel Joy Enriquez, a resident Brgy. Maraburab, Alcala, was missing.

Krizel stands 5’3″ tall, medium built, and was wearing a pink shirt and pink jogging pants when she left their house in the morning of October 16, 2022 about 10:00 a.m.

Krizel was supposed to get kamias about 200 meters away from their residence but has since then failed to return home.

The OFW had come home from Japan for the civil wedding scheduled on Monday, at around 1 p.m. at the Municipal Trial Court in Alcala.

Unfortunately, the bride could not be located nor contacted through her cellular phone, according to police.

“Sa ngayon may tumawag na huwag na pumunta ang groom sa bahay ng babae na parang may gustong sabihin,” Major Marigbay told Manila Bulletin.

The parents of the bride were also OFWs who also went home to attend the civil wedding.
