Great-grandmother tried on a wedding dress for the first time and finally found a dream gown for the first time in 70 years of marriage

Birmingham, Alabama (WLS)-When the 94-year-old great-grandmother returned … he finally said “yes” to the dress.

My great-grandmother in Birmingham, Alabama, recently fulfilled her lifelong wishes.

The 94-year-old married the love of her life nearly 70 years ago, but there was something she was never allowed to do.

Martha May Ophelia Moon Tucker was watching the elaborate wedding scene in the movie Coming to America. The granddaughter always heard her whisper that she wanted to try on a wedding dress.

It was then that Tucker’s granddaughter made it happen with other cousins!

The family booked David’s bridal appointment and finally gave Tucker the opportunity to say yes to the dress!

Tucker married in the South in 1952. At the time, she said, black women weren’t allowed to enter the bridal shop, so they wore a blue dress that someone lent them to.

When asked how she felt about the special day, she said she didn’t want to take off her dress. She also expressed how grateful she was for the efforts of her grandchildren.

Tucker has 4 children, 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.

Now they are aiming to throw the reception.
