Carlos, one of our dapper grooms looked incredible in his forest green suit, burgundy bow-tie and terracotta waistcoat. A refreshingly unique colour combo for a tuxedo infused with personal style! Before we dive into the details, let’s find out how these two lovebirds met. “I saw Carlos in a college hallway and decided to basically stalk the college platform until I found Carlos’ name. After I added him on social media, everything else happened!” After his detective skills paid off, the relationship flourished, and it was Carlos who decided to make the next big move, asking Paulo to marry him in August 2020.

Paulo, opted for a neutral and contrasting colour palette for his groomswear which was also full of individuality! He chose a pink-sand coloured suit, and added his own fashionable flair with an abstract metallic and turquoise waistcoat and a black silk cravat. A super stylish couple, if we ever did see!

The wedding ceremony was hosted on-site at the picturesque Hotel do Charme Quinta do Pinheiro, which is located approximately 30 minutes from Porto. Under the Portuguese sunshine, Paulo and Carlos said their I dos surrounded by their loved ones, basing their wedding ceremony around music – their favourite song being by U2 – to keep the personal aspect alive.

A confetti shower rained down as the newlyweds made their way back down the aisle as husband and husband for the first time. Just look at those smiles! For those who may be interested in getting married in Portugal, Paulo and Carlos describe what made them choose this wedding venue for their dreamy day: “Essentially it was the location. It was exactly how we wanted it. Isolated and in excellent condition. It was in the middle of the countryside and rural. The people who work there were also very important to us,” they say. The wedding aesthetic was inspired by simplicity, and as green is their favourite colour, they ensured the shade was seen throughout the entire day!

The wedding tablescapes were decorated with foliage and floral arrangements and gilded elements. A rustically-chic wedding theme, that proves less can be so much more. Their wedding table names consisted of their favourite song titles. As for the drool-worthy wedding cake, the couple opted for a three-tier naked red velvet cake with an awesome cake topper of both of them in their wedding suits!

When planning their dreamy Portuguese wedding day, they set out important priorities from start. “Our priorities were to delegate everything to our suppliers to make the most of our time with our family and friends. We knew the day was going to go by very quickly and we didn’t want to be preoccupied with organising the day.” And as for special elements that came alive on the day, it was simply the fun atmosphere that the guests created for the couple’s big day. “It was a party from start to finish. Of course, there were some exaggerations, but partying, dancing and laughter were the unique things of our day,” they add.

As the sun began to set and the stars came out, the couple shared their first dance to You by Selah Sue. After the wedding celebrations, the couple jetted off on their honeymoon to Riviera Maya, Mexico. “An experience different from any kind of vacation we had already had, a very positive one. Knowledge of a new culture, food, landscape, fun and the beach,”
