When a dream team of Irish wedding professionals team up, you can expect nothing less but pure magic! With the picturesque, timeless 12th-century Kilkea Castle as a backdrop, the creativity and skills of the team came together harmoniously to create something that was just the epitome of modern bridal style.
Inspired by a bright, boho colour palette accented with soft pastels, vanilla and metallic gold, this wedding inspiration is perfect for the trendsetter bride that loves a twist on classic elegance. Featuring gorgeous stationery, the most exquisite styling and blooms, epic dresses, modern bridal hair and makeup looks, and a jaw-dropping cake all captured wonderfully by Photographer Elaine Barker & Ronan Quinn of Amare Stories, it’s gorgeous to the max!
Keady Row put together a chic and artful stationery suite for this palette using a unique palette of orange, blush pink and black. Designers Nat and Tim tell us more about the design, “We paired contrasting papers and simple black lettering to give a minimal but elegant feel to this stationery suite. The limited lettering allows the paper textures to breathe and gives an organic, earthy feel.”
The team at Frog Prince Weddings & Events sure know how to turn wedding dreams into reality! Owner and floral designer Sharon tells us more about the inspiration behind this epic shoot, as well as giving us insight into the blooms chosen, “Our inspiration behind the styling and floral design was to paint a picture of a modern-day bride with a taste for old world charm but a flare for colour and modern design. We wanted to inspire brides to look beyond fresh flowers and consider using preserved florals as an element of their floral design or for all their florals. Dried flowers are not only one of the largest trends we are seeing but they are sustainable, long-lasting and have fantastic tones and textures that you can’t replicate with fresh blooms.”
“We brought in elements of fresh flowers such as the classic quicksand rose which complimented the bright peaches and pops of orange that really stood out against the beautiful luscious green walled garden where our outdoor ceremony took place. Each element such as the laid-back modern bridal dresses down right to the stationary celebrated each other. We wanted to recreate a laid back relaxed boho wedding which is really popular in Australia and has become increasingly trendy in Europe. We wanted to show Irish brides that this trend or style can work really well with the venues that we have to offer here in Ireland whether that’s a 12th-century castle or a modern townhouse in the city centre this mix of modern dried and fresh florals really work well together.”
A modern bohemian bride if we ever saw one!
The wedding dresses by Alena Leena from The One bridal boutique are truly showstoppers and for all of the right reasons. A unique take on bridalwear, Alena Leena names her gowns after flowers and foliage and draws inspiration from their characteristics. First up is the Armeria gown featuring a modern corset with intricate drapery detailing and a full pleated tulle skirt.
Next is the the Monstera gown, a sleek bustier gown created with luxurious smooth fabric like that of a Monstera leaf. Pretty, gold jewels from One Dame Lane add the perfect finishing touch.
The oh-so-beautiful wedding hair and makeup looks were by Lorraine Brown Hair and Judy Wong Makeup.
Lorraine gives us the low down on the hair looks she created, “The first look is big bouncy waves relaxed in the hair flowing away from the face with a strong parting, some product to add texture and movement. Teased and tousled glory looks so feminine and honestly this style is one of those looks that never truly goes away. For the second look, I found inspiration from the iconic Brigitte Bardot and her signature bouffant textured ponytail and lovely big floppy silk bow. It’s a classic look that relaxes a formal evening-style gown and makes everything much more fun and girly. I’ve actually staggered three ponytails so it looks longer but really secure and it’s more comfortable for the bride to wear rather than one tight ponytail!”
Judy fills us in on how she created this gorgeous, glowy bridal makeup look , “For a Bohemian bridal look, I started with creating a pearlescent radiance (Charlotte Tilbury Highlighter) on Caoimhe’s skin. We gave her a healthy glow to enhance the points of her face. Her inner sparkle and shine came through which helps a lot of brides look very youthful. I used the Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm as a treatment mask and left it on the skin to prep the skin a bit more and pamper it. Her eyeshadow was a blend of soft hues of mandarin, honey & on the centre of the lid a pop of sherbet. A creamy bronze eyeliner (Mac Kohl Pencil) lined the top lid and totally elevated the look. We used a gorgeous coral blusher (Laura Mercier) on the apple of Caoimhe’s cheeks and finished off using a (Bare Minerals) peachie nude gloss.”
The mouth-watering, two tier cake, natural style buttercream cake is a delicious collaboration between The Fat Fox and The Flour Artist. It was adorned simply with gold leaf and fresh flowers.
An epic ceremony backdrop like we’ve never seen! Frog Prince did an amazing job playing with the colour palette and added some bold colour to the historic exterior of Kilkea Castle.
